You may be asking yourself how in the world we are already nearing the end of October. I am asking the same exact thing. To be honest, it makes me a little nervous to think we are getting really close to the half way point of the school year. There are only about 7 weeks until Christmas break. That being said, I want to challenge you to stay focused and diligent with your students. Every day is important and our students not only need our best each day, they deserve it!
I am excited to continue learning alongside you at our Benchmark training tomorrow and to keep the conversations going in grade level plannings. Please take advantage of having Kayla, our Benchmark trainer, in the building and ask her the questions that are keeping you up at night!
The i3 Showcase is just around the corner and I know your students will be thrilled to share their learning with their families. Let's promote this event and get your students excited about showing off the inquiries, investigations, and innovations that they have been involved in so far this year. Afterall, that is what our school is anchored around! 💡
We have a lot of things coming up over the next several weeks, so please mark your calendars and plan accordingly. Reach out if you have any questions and let me know how I can support you! 🤝
Wow! Time is flying and the midyear point is coming fast! There is a lot of information this week so please take the time to read it and write down the important dates on your calendar!
MAP Growth Assessments: We are about 6 weeks away from the MOY MAP Growth Assessment. Students will take the MAP Growth Reading Assessment on Tuesday, December 10th, and the MAP Growth Math Assessment on Wednesday, December 11th.
MAP Reading Fluency: ALL K-3 students should complete progress monitoring on the MAP Reading Fluency platform EVERY month (the last working week of the month). Grade Chairs, please make sure this is discussed during your planning. The district is requesting this data from us and is required! All K-3 students will complete the Dyslexia screener the week of January 13th. More details will come!
Ga Literacy Academy Transcripts: Many teachers are showing Ga Literacy Academy courses as still “in progress”. This is happening because teachers are not clicking “next” after the trophy/congratulations screen. In order for courses to show as complete on their Ga Learns transcript, educators must click next to advance past the trophy screen. Doing this will mark the course as complete. Teachers, please be sure you have courses 1 and 2 marked as complete before 10/31/24. If you need assistance, reach out to Kate or me.
Safety: Please remember that ALL classroom doors MUST remain locked and closed during instructional time, with NO obstructions covering the window on the classroom door. We know that LOCKED DOORS saves lives.
Professional Development: If you are interested in getting your Gifted endorsement, please check out this flyer. The Gifted Endorsement Course has recently been revamped and is more conducive to teacher's schedules. The information you learn is wonderful for ALL students. Please reach out to Lorrie or me if you have any questions.
Bright Spots: We love reading and sharing the comments about how employees are "Rocking their Role" through the TOTM and SMOM surveys! Positive affirmations bring each of us joy. You are all doing such amazing things for your students and each other. Please vote for the November TOTM and SMOM here by Friday, October 25.
Please send up those PAWS'itive Office Referrals! Seeing the bright spots in our students helps make a positive impact on student behaviors and truly brightens their day and ours!
Counselor Links:
Please- If there is anything you need in your classroom, please let me know! My phone number is 678-617-4869 and you can reach out anytime for anything.
From Olivia, School Counselor
SEL Brochures:
Outside my office, there is now a brochure holder. I have printed off Social-Emotional brochures for kids to be able to come and get as needed. In case I am out of the building or in the middle of something, a student can come and pick a brochure that fits the problem they are having (i.e., anger, anxiety, stress, etc.). This intervention (and a mindful walk to and from my office) is designed to be immediate until I am available or they are calm enough to not need me :)
Classroom Lessons:
Thank you to Amy Paulson in Kindergarten for having me come in and teach a lesson on keeping our hands in the correct place! She noticed a need in her room and let me know so I could address it whole group at Tier 1.
I LOVE doing this! I love adapting lessons or creating activities to fit the needs you see in your room. Please let me know if there is ever a need you see in your classroom and I would love to come!
**I am still trucking through Safer, Smarter Kids lessons and hopefully will finish those before Thanksgiving Break.
PAWS PBIS Week
October 28-November 1 is this year's Sources of Strength Week. We have decided to claim it as PAWS Week to celebrate our new PBIS expectations (great idea from student council and Mrs. Coffman and Mrs. Miller)!

Getting ready for ClearTouches
I know you all are stressed and anxious about the ClearTouch rollout, and I know it's a lot to ask for you to deconstruct all of the work you have put into setting up your classrooms. I'm here to help. I will come and help you take down anything, scrape walls, and move furniture, just send up the smoke signals!
Everyone should have your individual schedule/timeline of when the work will be done in your classrooms and a checklist of what to expect. Please watch this video the night before your ClearTouch is installed. I will be by that morning to check your installation and give you a tutorial to get you started. If you view the video beforehand, you will have an overview of how everything is supposed to operate.
ClearTouch Install Schedule:
Mon., Oct. 21: SPED Hall
Tues., Oct. 22: Connections Corner, Miller, Coffman & Smallwood
Wed., Oct. 23: Cain, Hunt, left 1/2 K-Hall
Thurs., Oct. 24: 1/2 K, Pre-K, Liaison, YMCA
Fri., Oct. 25: 1st Grade
Mon., Oct. 28: PL Rm, Counselor's Closet, Conference Rm.
Benchmark Inquiry Research Projects
As you are planning your Benchmark Inquiry projects, please reach out and let me know what you are working on and I can help you plan and execute these. I'll be more than happy to come and help your kids research and/or create their projects. We have a wealth of resources, we just need to get together and talk through the possibilities.
Hovercam Problems...
With the new Windows update your Hovercam will need a little update of its own. Please use screenshot on the left to change your hovercam's resolution so it will video capture and not show still shots.
You can use your Hovercam with your new ClearTouch! Use one of the two USB ports on the front of your panel. After all of the ClearTouches are installed and I'll order some longer cables for your Hovercam.
