WOW! How did we get here so fast?! I honestly don't know, but I am so thankful that we have made it this far and that I have had the privilege of being on this journey with each of you. I encourage you to TRY and be in the moment the next 8 days. While I know there is a lot to do and your minds are racing, I don't want you to miss out on these really sweet (last few) days with your kiddos.Â
Your Leadership Team is working hard today to get a jumpstart on next year's School Improvement Plan (SIP). I appreciate each of you holding down the fort while the team is off campus. I am excited about the goals we have met this year and hopeful that as we set new goals, we can all work together to meet them too!Â
As we move into the final week of school, please keep SAFETY on your mind. We will have lots of visitors over the coming days, so please check for visitor tags and make sure all doors are closed and locked at all times. Contact the front office if you see any suspicious activity.Â
Next week's award schedule is as follows:
Monday, May 19th- 5th grade Awards at Lakewood Baptist Church at 5:30
Tuesday, May 20th-3rd grade- 8:00, 4th grade-9:40, Kindergarten -12:50
Wednesday, May 21st- 2nd grade-10:30, 1st Grade-12:00
Some of you have asked about the Wildcat Award. This is an award that is new and will be given to one girl and one boy from each grade level. You can allow your class to vote on their representatives (2nd-5th) and then once the names are compiled, the entire grade level can vote on the two they feel exhibit the Wildcat Way best. K/1 friends, you can involve your class in the voting if you'd like OR you can choose one boy and one girl from each class and then draw names out of a hat to be your grade level representatives. Please see me if you have any questions. We talked about it at Leadership a few weeks ago, so it may be a little foggy. Please submit these names to Beth and I by Monday, May 19th and we will print the award. Also, this award will be given out after all classroom awards have been given. If the teacher of the winners writes a little description of WHY this student was chosen and HOW they embody these characteristics, it'll be read by me before calling the students up to receive the award.Â
Here is the description for the Wildcat Award.Â
The Wildcat Award recognizes students at LSi3 who consistently demonstrate exceptional character throughout the year. These students serve as positive role models for their peers by being positive in their attitude, accountable for their actions, willing to help and participate, and safe in their behavior, embodying the very best qualities of a Lanier Wildcat.Â
Post-planning is May 27-28. The schedule is pretty open on these days. We will work from 8-4 and lunch will be from 11:30-1:00. Your goal will be to complete your EOY checklist and get rooms packed up/moved and ready for floors to be cleaned. We will meet to say our good-byes to everyone and close out with our showers at 2:00 on May 27th. **The Leadership Team will be on call in the event we need to touch base prior to the District Leadership Retreat.Â
Thank you all for everything you do! Just a few more wake-ups, and we will start summer. Please find the EOY Check List here. All teachers are to complete the checklist in its entirety and turn it in to Alli or me in the office. There is a green folder on my desk labeled EOY Checklist, place completed (meaning all signatures are complete) checklists in it. The school map for next year is linked HERE. If you are moving rooms, please be mindful of the dominoes that fall and don't get too ahead of yourself, and please do not rush others out of their room. We will have time during post-planning to transition. Please let us know if you have any questions.Â
DOJO Celebration Details
On Friday, May 16th, please do NOT park in the top parking lot because it will be used for Water Day fun. We will celebrate Water Day from 1:30 - 2:00. There are 4 stations (6 to 7 minutes each) where students will participate. Your grade level will need a designated time keeper so teams can rotate through each of the stations. Connection teachers and Academic Specialists will be at each location to assist with filling up the water stations. EXTRA HOSES NEEDED! We will label it with your name and return it dry and clean to you on Friday after clean up.Â
Students should be packed up before going out for activities, so they are ready for dismissal after coming inside from the celebration. If you have recess at the end of the day, make plans to go out at a different time.Â

Set up at least one of your 2025-26 Canvas courses NOW. If you don’t set it up before the summer you will lose your access as a teacher in Canvas.
Keep your HoverCam and laptop/Para Chromebooks (unless you are one of the glorious few moving on to new adventures! Then you'll need to return them to the library). Store your Hovercam in your cabinets and take your laptop home or bring it to the library to be stored.
Please put your Cleartouch keyboard in one of your Chromebook cabinets. (These have to stay in the room they started in because the dongle in the PC is specific to the keyboard).
Your Cleartouch accessories (remote & 2-pens) need to be stored in the box tucked behind your Cleartouch panel. Please let Allyson know if some of these are missing (remote or pens).Â
If you have a computer monitor, store it in a place where it is secure. DO NOT leave it on any furniture that will be moved when they wax the floors!
If you have iPads, store them in your Chromebook Cabinets or return them to the library.
A list of what you currently have checked out from the library will be in your box this week. Please mark what you plan to keep and make sure everything else is returned. This list will be turned in when you come by for me to sign off on your EOY checklist.
A list of what your kids still need to return will be in your boxes this week. Email notices will be sent home as well as paper notices.
Chromebook charges will go out as soon as we have a chance to inspect Chromebooks next week.Â

We have received all of our ESOL students' recent ACCESS test scores this week!
A few things to know about the ACCESS Scores:
Proficiency Levels (PL) consists of a score for each of the 4 domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
Students can score up to 6.0 points in each language domain.Â
Students also receive a Composite Proficiency Level (CPL) score which is based on their language domain scores.
Students who score a 5.0 overall Composite Proficiency Level (CPL) or above are clear exits. Meaning they will no longer receive ESOL services.Â
However, students who score 4.3-4.9 may ALSO exit if they also scored a Literacy Proficiency Level score of 4.0 or higher.
Julie and I will continue to use the homeroom Proficiency Level Documents to help track specific language domains our students need more help and focus on as well as the language domain strengths our students have!
If you have any questions at all about your ESOL students or their ACCESS scores, please reach out and let us know!Â
