I am really excited about our new Character Counts curriculum that Olivia is starting to dabble with AND that our first word to learn about and practice is KINDNESS! It's cool to be kind and I hope that not only this month, but all year, we can make it our mission to make kindness matter!
Our first annual Curriculum Tailgate is TONIGHT! We have had roughly 200 people tell us they are coming, so let's capitalize on that! Let's have fun and make it amazing!
I am excited about PLCs kicking off this week and your teams being able to dive in to the PLC cycle. Your Leadership team rep has had some initial training and are ready to walk you through the process. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Kate if you have questions OR need assistance.
Thanks for all you do each and every day. Let us know how we can support you!
Hello, amazing team! Thank you for your continuous commitment and dedication. As the intensity of learning is increasing for our students, so are some of their behaviors. Please be mindful of the difference between Classroom Managed Behaviors and Administration Managed Behaviors. Not all behavior infractions require immediate administration assistance or an administrator at all. Please remember the power of a phone call home and the Behavior Flow Chart. Please let me know how I can support you. See the information below.

For Eureka2, not ALL problems in the lesson are on the exit ticket. Pam reminded me that looking at the exit ticket ahead of time can allow you to either push past what is required on the exit ticket for rigor, OR stop and get to the problem set earlier.
We have many students who read on grade level but DO NOT perform well on the Benchmark weekly assessments. I know that this is in part due to the rigor of the content/questions. However, prioritize giving students feedback on their assessments and paying close attention to which skills they are missing. Set class goals for averages and remind students to do their best!
Be sure you have read through the learning slides for Building Staff Capacity by our October 2nd Faculty meeting. We will have our discussion during the meeting.

Lessons:
I am still working through the grade levels on Kindness! I appreciate your patience with me as I tackle this new curriculum and make it our own.
Each unit should last 6 weeks, but if there is a need you are seeing (executive function, regulation, friendship skills), I will push in more than that framework. All you need to do is email me what you are needing and sign up for a lesson; I will take it from there :)
Processes:
At my counselor meeting, the Director of Student Services spoke to us about our processes and the need for clarity and transparency. It got me thinking about how you may not know (or understand) the processes that we follow for certain things (DFCS, suicide/homicide ideation, etc.).
If you ever have a question about the 'why' I do something a certain way, do not hesitate to ask! It may be a Hall County expectation or it might be an Olivia Original (which I am always looking to improve).
YouTube Ads
Unfortunately, the ads on YouTube are probably going to get worse, because as of yesterday YouTube is removing all third party's capability to block ads, after all, that's how YouTube makes its money.
We do have a work around. It will require a few more clicks and some planning on your part to stream without the ads.

TIP: Start with Student Placement Test
Use the Placement Test to determine your students’ English proficiency level (Levels 1, 2, or 3).
This helps you personalize their learning path.
If you would like me to give this I will be HAPPY to do so, just let me know! :) I can also E-mail the results to myself so that I can know exactly what level and skill plan your students need to work on.
