Practise your typing with some simple sentences!
My name is…
I like to…
I have _ people in my house.
Once you have finished your typing practise, enjoy some free time using the following iPad apps:
Codeapillar
Superhero Comic Book Maker
Scratch
Then, you can complete the worksheet below to remember the important message you have learnt from Hector and his friends today!
When we are online it is really important to keep ourselves safe! Watch Hector’s world: Episode 5 to learn about the importance of asking a trusted adult for help when doing things online.
For this activity you will need:
White paper, coloured paper, newspaper, magazines or whatever you have around the house
Pencils, textas or crayons
Glue
Scissors
Cardboard - can be toilet paper roll, paper towel roll, cereal box or other thin cardboard
Watch the teacher video to find out how to make your very own boat collage!
This week, you are going to practise your coding skills using an app called ScratchJr. This app is only available for iPad. If you do not have an iPad at home, you can visit the websites below to practise coding. Watch the teacher video to find out how to use ScratchJr!
Click on the picture below for a link to the app store, or you can just type in Scratch Jr into the app store on your iPad.
Collage is a simple craft activity that involves pasting items like paper, leaves or photographs onto a sheet of paper. IT is a fun way to encourage awareness of how colours and textures can work together to create an artwork.
Choose whether you would like to make a collage of a flower or a tree! Then, gather your materials. You can use coloured paper, plain paper and colour it in, tissue paper, cellophane, magazines, catalogues and newspapers. You will also need scissors and glue. Once you have gathered your paper, cut it up in small bits like you can see in the pictures. You might like to sort your pieces into different colours or paste them down anywhere. To help you, you can also use the flower or tree templates provided, or draw up your own in your workbook or on a blank piece of paper.
There are people we can trust, and others we can’t. Our feelings can help us decide whether someone is trustworthy by sending our body clues that we don’t feel right about something. It’s important to always listen to what these feelings are telling you.
Watch Lesson 4 of Hector’s World ‘The info gang’, where Tama uncovers the info gang’s evil plans to sell her friends' personal information. While you are watching, pay attention to what Tama does when she senses a situation is unsafe.
Brainstorm some feelings that Tama experiences in this episode and write or draw these feelings in your workbook. As you write or draw each feeling, think about how your body feels when you experience this feeling. Stand up and act out what happens to your body. For example, one feeling Tama experiences is fear. When we get scared, sometimes our legs can shake, our hands can tremble and our breath can shorten.
This science experiment is sure to be lots of fun! Read the Volcano Experiment instructions to find out how to make your very own volcano with lava.
Coding involves giving instructions to a computer to perform a specific task. You may have also heard of coding as ‘computer programming’. Learning to code is a great way to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Coding for kids begins with drag-and-drop movements, and connecting blocks to give a computer instructions. Visit this website and start at Lesson 1 to practise coding skills. Learn to drag and drop, and sequence movements to make the characters move!

Foil
Plastic containers
Paper
Sticky tape/glue
Once you are finished, take a picture and share with your teacher on Class Dojo!
It is important that you learn to log in and out of your Reading and Mathletics accounts all by yourself! Practise typing in your username and password to access both of these accounts. Once you are logged in, practise logging out and trying again.
