In English, there are 100 words that appear so often they make up approximately half of all the words we read. These words are called ‘Magic 100 words’ or sight words, as learning to recognise these words by sight makes reading easier, and are divided into coloured sets according to their difficulty. The Magic 100 words were sent home in the resources pack provided from school. This sight word grid is made up of activities to help students practise their Magic 100 words. Start with the words already attached to the word ring and attach a new colour group when students can recognise these words with ease upon sighting them. This grid is optional and here to help, but students can practise their words in other ways too.
