SCHOOL ADMISSIONS FOR CHILDREN OF NON-RESIDENT PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The Georgetown School Committee recognizes that opportunities sometimes present themselves which allow the district to retain high quality staff by providing benefits of value that may be of interest to our staff.

The School Committee may determine, upon a request from a staff member with professional teacher status or an administrator, that they may allow the immediate child/children of a staff member who does not reside in Georgetown to attend district K-12 schools.

The School Committee will determine, on an annual basis, if such requests will be allowed for the next school year, based on space and budget considerations. If students require special services such as special education, the cost must be paid by the teacher or administrator. Upon determination that it will allow requests, the Committee will set a date by which all requests must be provided to the Superintendent’s office. If there are more requests than can be accommodated, entrance will be determined by seniority. Those interested must first file an application for school choice.

Once a staff member’s child has been accepted and attends the district schools, they may remain until graduation or voluntary withdraw, subject to the same laws, regulations, and policies as all other district students.

Transportation to and from school is the responsibility of the employee.

When the Superintendent provides the October 1 enrollment report to the School Committee, there shall be included in the report and accounting of the number of children of non-resident staff.
