What'd you end up doing after high school?
I'm going to Georgia Institute of Technology and majoring in Computer Science. I am involved in GT's Startup Exchange, where I am developing the world's first AI-native aggregate news platform.
Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself being the Co-Founder of a YC backed startup.
How has CHARGEnorth prepared you for the “real” world?
I learned how to make engineering solutions (AKA the science fair) to real-world problems, and see them succeed or fail and learn from the experience. This comes quite handy when building a startup.
What have you gained or learned from being a CHARGE student?
A lot of technical skills, research skills, coding skills, career, and social skills. A key differentiator that seperates CHARGE from the rest of campus is that CHARGE develops you holistically (socially, professionally, and technically), not just academically.
If you could describe your CHARGE experience in 3 words what would it be?
Uncomfortable, Nurturing, and Realistic
Are there similarities between college and CHARGEnorth that you didn’t expect?
There are a lot of group projects, both in CHARGEnorth and in college.
What advice would you give upcoming CHARGE freshmen?
Become friends with your teachers and try to discover what you really like within the STEM field. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help if you are struggling. CHARGE has many difficult projects and courses, and it is normal to feel stuck at times. Your teachers want you to succeed, and they will make sure you do as long as you care about improving.
What advice do you have for any seniors about to head to college?
Find a good balance between your GPA, your social life, your career, and your health.
Anything else you would like to say?
You may know what you want to do in 10 years, but chances are whatever you're into will change a lot. You are likely going to change your career field, character strengths, friend group, location, and personal habits many times throughout your 20s. You never know where life takes you, and it is important to be open to change and honest self-reflection.
