The GA Tech Experience
Our Juniors took a college tour field trip to the Georgia Institute of Technology in downtown Atlanta! They were assigned groups to do a campus scavenger hunt to find buildings (such as Tech Tower) and various infamous locations. They then were given a tour of the Georgia Tech Makerspace rooms which were filled with advanced 3-D printers, lasers, and stations for the students to view. Needless to say, everyone was impressed and excited about the opportunities Georgia Tech had to offer.
They were also able to meet CHARGEnorth alumni who attend the college for advice, personal experiences, and questions they may have. Not only was this informative, but it was also engaging and an overall realistic experience of campus life!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Davis for organizing this event, the Juniors sure had fun!
This was an enriching and enjoyable field trip to the newly built Water Tower Building in Buford where students received hands-on, microbiological experience and learn about how the water in our community is cleaned and reused.
Our 10th grade students (98 of them!) visited the Atlanta Beltline's first agricultural site and urban garden, Aluma Farm to learn about urbanization and its impact on food, food production and the availability of produce to nearby residents in and around Adair Park. https://www.alumafarm.com/farmstand
The second stop of the trip was at Ponce City Market, Atlanta's most iconic brownfield development project which is a Sears manufacturing and showroom facility turned mixed-use development housing retail, commercial, and residential in the largest brick factory in the Southeast! https://www.poncecitymarket.com/
