On the first day, our trainer, Daphne Peristeropoulou-Conway, M.Ed, gave us an introduction to the course with all the information uploaded onto a shared paddlet and the external weekly activities, followed by the school presentations and school information.
We were informed of the cultural activities and the social programme which had been designed to us and important details to avoid any cultural misunderstanding and make our stay as pleasant as possible.
After a well-deserved break, those attending the course started their school presentations, which always helps to break the ice and gives the opportunity to get to know each other better. Moreover, thanks to these presentations new links and future exchange possibilities are established.
We finished our day 1 one voting on Mentimeter how we had felt this first session paying close attention on how important feedback is.
We started our day 2 working on what the 4 basic English language skills are, considering Simon and Simon quote ´When it comes to learning languages, everyone has various strengths. Some people excel at writing, while others excel at speaking, reading, and listening.´
We discussed about what language skills are relating to different aspects of using language; such as listening, reading, writing or speaking. Skills are our ability to do these things. They are usually divided into two types: receptive and productive. Receptive skills are those used in understanding; reading or listening. Productive skills involve producing language; speaking or writing.
We moved on to what and how different apps such as chatgpt, Book creator, google lens, SurveySparrow, Quizlet, Lingoclip, News in Levels, or Breaking News English can be used in our lessons.
We finished Day 2 revising all the different uses of English verb tenses, testing what we knew with interactive exercises and the explanation that could help us. To do so, helpful online pages such as B2 pre-advanced grammar exercises- Test English, BBC learning English, National Geographic Kids or British Council Learn English Teens were provided.tW
Below you can see a Wakelet I have designed to share all these interesting sites.
Day 3 was devoted to prepare the outdoor cultural activity that would serve as an excuse to develop the activities for Day 4 and 5.
We were given the guidelines to be able to carry out a ICT Treasure Hunt project on the Acropolis Museum. The aim was to use this idea as an example for future projects on different topic in our own lessons.
We would visit the Acropolis Museum to take pictures and short videos of the experience. After visiting the museum, in pairs, we would visit Plaka and Monastiraki and take pictures and short videos of the things we liked. We had to save all the videos and pictures in a folder on our computers. Finally, we would use the material for our ITC project the following day.
Guidelines for the activity we had to do
On Day 4, we headed to the Acropolis museum and recorded videos of the whole experience so that we could use them for our ITC project. Moreover, we were given tasks to fulfill while visiting the museum. We had to find out how many goddess Athena we could find and take a picture of the sign. Then, we had to post the number of Athenas found on our Paddlet, add a photo of our favourite one and explain why we had found it so interesting.
We finished Day 4 strolling Plaka and Monastiraki looking for all the information and data we needed for our project the next day.

Practical usage!
Working in pairs, we designed and presented our ITC projects on the Acropolis museum, using all the skills we had been studying and practising throughout the week.
After the presentations, we had a course evaluation, feedback and discussion. We put and end to this rewarding experience being awarded of the course Certificate of Attendance.
