The Monthly Outfitting Card Review helps Outfitters deliver consistently exceptional customer experiences by identifying strengths and areas for growth. As an RXM, you can use this process to provide ongoing coaching and feedback, reinforce key metrics, and set actionable goals throughout the year.
When leading Monthly Outfitting Card Reviews, it's best to...
Schedule it. Schedule monthly check-ins rather than relying on downtime. Use these meetings to review performance, share improvement strategies, and support development through consistent coaching and training.
Keep it brief. While personal connection is valuable and should be prioritized, these reviews should remain focused on an Outfitter's performance on the sales floor and efficient at ~10 min per Outfitter.
Prepare. Coming prepared to the review will help keep it focused and efficient. Focus on major wins and impactful opportunities rather than every detail. Before the meeting, review trends over the past six months, identify top achievements, and prepare actionable strategies for areas that need improvement.
Be curious. Engage the Outfitter in the discussion by leading with questions such as, "How do you feel about these results?" "What skills or experience could help?" and "What's your next step and why?"
Be direct. When sharing feedback, whether it's constructive or positive, be clear by describing the situation, your observation, the impact of their actions, and your expectations moving forward.
Follow-through. Accountability is crucial. If you commit to providing training, follow through. Likewise, continue to monitor the Outfitter’s progress through observation and coaching in the moment. If progress stalls, identify barriers and adjust strategies. If improvements are made, acknowledge and reinforce them.
Document the conversation. Don’t forget to document progress in the Outfitter Documentation Log for future Monthly Outfitting Card Reviews.
Be flexible. Given the fast-paced retail environment, flexibility is key. Use this three-tiered approach based on your available time and Outfitter needs:
Level 3: Good (5 min prep per Outfitter)
Document key performance metrics and note 1-2 successes and opportunities.
Share the document via email, print, or another method.
Level 2: Better (5 min prep + 5-10 min in-person per Outfitter)
Complete Level 3 steps.
Hold a brief one-on-one discussion about performance.
Level 1: Best (5-7 min prep + 10 min in-person per Outfitter)
Complete Levels 3 and 2 steps.
Help the Outfitter set a SMART goal for the next 30 days and provide resources.
