Using an in-class time away is a form of withdrawal that takes away sources of reinforcement for unacceptable behaviour or factors that may be triggering misbehaviour. This strategy requires a physical arrangement within the classroom where the student is largely out of view of other students (but not the teacher). Reflection time is one step below the more severe consequence of withdrawal from the classroom. Students are supported to think about their behaviour and to plan ways of behaving more appropriately.
