Summer Term - Week 3
Please scroll down for collective worship Tuesday - Friday
Monday 4th May
Hello Everyone. It's Mrs Scott here with you again this week. I hope you managed to have a good weekend.
This week we will finish thinking about Fruits of Friendship with God.
Our hymn is a clue to today's Fruit of Friendship with God.
Please click here for the audio track.
Yes, today we will be thinking about peace.
Peace can be defined as contentment or unity between people.
How would you describe it?
This is the story about a man called Elisha who wanted real peace.
Think About..
Many people think that peace only means there is no fighting going on. Christians believe peace is much more thaat that, it is when everything is right between people. Elisha not only stopped the fighting but he made the kings better friends.
Have you ever had a falling-out with a friend or family member?
How did you sort it out?
Did anyone help you?
What did you learnt from it?

Prayers
Dear God,
Help us to work for peace in our friendships, not just to stop fighting but to make those friendships truly peaceful.
Amen
I hope you all have a peaceful day.
Tuesday 5th May
Hello Everyone.
I hope you all had a good day yesterday.
Please join in singing today's hymn, Peace like a River.
Please click here for the audio track.
How many Fruits of Friendship with God are mentioned in this hymn?
Definition: Generous and open-hearted.
Can you think of some ways that people have been generous or open-hearted with you at school and at home?
In the past children have said the following:
My mum gives me lots of her time.
My friends always include me in their games.
My dad helps me with my homework.
My teacher and TA do extra work with me if I don't understand something.
My friends show me the right way to behave.
My cousin sets a good example for me.
My friends are kind to me.
When people are generous, how does it make you feel?
How have you displayed goodness?

Almighty God,
We thank you for all you have done for us especially for giving us life.
God please we ask you to bring salvation to the world and help us cure this disease. God, we ask you to forgive all our sins and keep us safe. Please heal all those who are sick.
Amen
Wednesday 6th May
VE Day
On Monday we thought about peace. Today we are going to continue the theme by thinking about the 75th anniversary of VE Day which is on Friday.
Please read the presentation.
Friday is a bank holiday in order to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. There will be 2 minute silence at 11am on Friday.
Tuesday 8 May, 1945, was an emotional day that millions of people had been waiting for.
Many people were extremely happy that the fighting had stopped and there were big celebrations and street parties.
Many people also attended church services to thank God for the victory.
London's St Paul's Cathedral held 10 services, which were attended by thousands of people.
But VE Day was also a moment of great sadness and reflection, as millions of people had lost their lives or loved ones in the conflict.
Bible Link
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15
Think about...
How do you think people might have felt on 8th May 1945?
How would you celebrate and give thanks?
How will you observe the 2 minute silence on Friday?
Prayers
This prayer is taken from the VE Day Service in 1945, held at Westminster Abbey. Please click on the link to see a copy of the order of service.
Lord God our Father,
we pledge ourselves to serve you and all humankind, in the cause of peace,
for the relief of want and suffering,
and for the praise of your name.
Guide us by your Spirit;
give us wisdom;
give us courage;
give us hope;
and keep us faithful now and always.
Amen.

Thursday 7th May
Hello everyone. It’s Revd. Lisa here and I’m really glad to be with you today.
Today's hymn is Lord all the World belongs to You.
Please click here for the audio track.
This week, I’ve been reading a book called The Boy at the Back of the Class. It’s quite a long book but I’m really enjoying it – and if you’re in Key Stage Two (and especially Year 5 and 6), you might enjoy it too.
At the beginning of the story, a new boy called Ahmet joins the narrator’s class (the narrator hasn’t told me their name yet). Everybody thinks he’s a bit strange because he doesn’t speak to anyone, so he doesn’t make any friends. I think Ahmet must have felt very scared and alone.
I think after Jesus died, the disciples must have felt scared and alone too. However, we know that Jesus rose from the dead and that the disciples saw him again.
Bible Link
In one of the Bible stories where Jesus appears to the disciples after he has risen, he promises them that they will never be alone.
Read this Bible story: Matthew 28:16-20.
So the eleven disciples went off to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had instructed them to go (when he had first appeared after the resurrection). They saw him, and worshipped him, though some hesitated.
Jesus came towards them and addressed them.
‘All authority in heaven and on earth,’ he said, ‘has been given to me! So you must go and make all the nations into disciples. Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe everything I have commanded you. And look: I am with you, every single day, to the very end of the age.’
Think about...
It’s good for us to know that Jesus is always with us, especially when times are hard. Jesus doesn’t just say ‘I am with you’ to his disciples, though. He also sends them to take God’s message to others and to share his teachings.
I know that you’ve been thinking about Fruits of Friendship with God in your Collective Worship with Mrs Scott and embodying them is a very good way to share Jesus’ teachings.
Questions to think about
How many of the Fruits of Friendship can you name?
Choose one of the Fruits of Friendship. When have you embodied it?
Actions
Choose one of the Fruits of Friendship. How will you embody it today?
(P.S. Ahmet is scared and alone at the beginning of the story but I don’t think that’s how the story will end!)
Prayers
Loving God,
Help us to remember that you are always with us, even when we feel alone and when things are hard.
Give us courage to respond to you and to use our gifts to show your love to others.
Amen
I hope you all have a lovely day.
