Clifton Boys make their mark at the Midlands Rugby Festival

The spirit of Clifton was alive and thriving this past weekend as our boys took to the field at the annual Midlands Rugby Festival. This event, which draws together some of the most prestigious schools in KZN, served as the perfect stage for our young athletes to showcase their talents and determination.

Facing formidable opposition from larger and well-established rugby schools, our Clifton boys stood tall, embodying the essence of sportsmanship, skill, and resilience. Despite only having two practice sessions to prepare, a fraction of the time afforded to many other teams, our boys demonstrated unparalleled dedication and passion for the game.

The festival proved to be a true test of character, with each match presenting its own unique challenges. Yet, through it all, our boys remained unwavering in their commitment to excellence. Their performances on the field were nothing short of commendable, as they consistently punched above their weight and left everything on the field.

Out of the 22 matches played, our boys emerged victorious in 8, displaying a winning mentality that speaks volumes about their drive and determination. Even in defeat, they showed remarkable resilience, with 10 closely contested losses and 4 hard-fought draws. Importantly, in most of these encounters, most of our teams conceded no more than 5 points to their opponents, a testament to their defensive prowess and never-say-die attitude.

Beyond the scores and statistics, what truly stood out was the unwavering camaraderie and support displayed by our Clifton community. Parents, teachers, and fellow students rallied behind the team, cheering them on every step of the way.

As we reflect on the Midlands Rugby Festival, we cannot help but feel an immense sense of pride in the achievements of our Clifton boys. They have not only represented our school with distinction but have also demonstrated the values of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship that lie at the heart of Clifton's ethos.
