Grade 5 - Termly Update

The first term of Grade 5 has been full of fun as our boys and girls have settled into the new school year. With the summer weather showing off, our children have had the opportunity to enjoy and explore what our beautiful campus has to offer.

Making use of every opportunity to get outside, we put our newly learnt Social Science map work skills to the test and made our very own maps of the Clifton grounds, which of course, necessitated re-exploring some much-loved places to get our bearings. Our Natural Science curriculum covered rocks and soils, which allowed our boys and girls to investigate different types of soil and included a visit to the much loved clay mines.

The Grade 5s also joined in on some whole school events such as World Read Aloud Day, where stories and snacks were shared with our Junior Primary friends in Headmaster's Woods.

We ended the term with some well-deserved excitement involving an Outdoor Learning Day and a Super Science Day which allowed the children to expand their curiosity in different areas and to try out some new things.

In our Social and Emotional Learning, we have focused on kindness, mindfulness, being in the moment and how to manage procrastination. The Social and Emotional Learning workshop, in the last week of school, gave us the opportunity to tie, all the themes we have covered in our weekly lessons, together.

It has been lovely to witness how eager the boys and girls have been to learn new things and to see them having fun in all areas of school life.

We look forward to an exhilarating term 2, where we will also be going on our first Grade trip.
