Grade 6 & 7 Outdoor Learning Day - 15 March

How lovely to be able to spend the day exploring our campus. Our outdoor learning goal this term was to gather as much data as possible in 3 ‘zones’ we had identified within the school - the stream, the woodlands (Top Woods and Headmaster’s Woods), and the general classroom area.

The grade 6 and 7 cohort were divided into small groups, and, armed with sharpened pencils, keen eyes and a sense of adventure, headed off on their various missions.

Having 86 able bodied children working towards a common goal is an enormous blessing. Birds, insects, frogs, crabs and trees were all identified and tallied, with locations of sightings logged on maps. The opportunity to spend time at the stream with Mr Mortimer an undoubted highlight. In addition to this, audits were done on litter, electricity usage and water wastage.

The data gathered will be invaluable in contributing towards ensuring that our 60ha of classroom remains as healthy as possible for generations to come.
