Boarding Termly Reflection

Over the term, our boarding family has been bursting with energy and action, making the most of our time together. The mild weather has made for great outdoor activities. Our children have been enjoying exciting games of stingers, soaking up the sun and cooling down with refreshing swims. Our aspiring cricketers have been hitting the grounds and participating in traditional tree cricket, which is a test for both young and old, demonstrating their bargaining skills and sportsmanship. Special events have introduced a new dimension of excitement to our weeks and weekends.

The participation of both boarding houses in an evening challenge where they sing across to each other has been remarkable to watch. The melodies ring through our school as boarders gather to share the joy of song. These sessions develop friendships and create unique memories.

Our Valentine's Day dinner was once again a fun experience for the boys and girls. Capitol Caterers, the headmaster, and Mrs. Prinsloo's efforts undoubtedly enhanced the children's enjoyment of the evening. Mr. Prinsloo's invitation to a small group of boarders to his home for a supper and catch-up session is a kind gesture that develops a strong sense of community and support among the children.

It's inspiring to hear about the resilience and emotional maturity demonstrated by these young individuals as they navigate the challenges of being away from home. Their ability to overcome homesickness and show empathy during both difficult and easy times speaks volumes about their character and growth. The sense of accomplishment and independence they feel as they settle into bed reflects the valuable experiences and support provided by both their families and the school staff. Reading quietly with an understanding of their achievements reinforces the importance of self-reliance and the role of guidance from adults in their lives.

Overall, the school's environment and the dedication of its staff are supporting the children's overall development, assisting them in becoming resilient, empathetic, and self-assured individuals.

We are committed to providing holistic assistance for our boarders' academic experiences. Our afternoon schedule ensures that children attend additional lessons and private sessions, allowing them to flourish in their academics. Our skilled family group leaders are always following up with the boys and girls to ensure that each child feels supported and cared for. We prioritise emotional well-being with academic achievement but still ensure that our children have adequate time to just be. This is critical to our boarding vision and preserving our one chance at childhood.

We've started a regular reading session before supper, devoting 15 minutes to instilling a love of learning and reinforcing important topics.

As we reflect on the busy term that has passed, we are excited to share some great news regarding upcoming activities. Our marketing staff has been hard at work creating interesting and enriching trips to promote our boarding community both locally and beyond provincial lines. These experiences will extend our perspectives while also strengthening the links that bind us together as a family.

We are proud of the enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by every member of our boarding family. Together, we will continue to foster a supportive environment in which every child can thrive.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement.
