Chocolate Dipping - 9 February

Imbibed in chocolate, our Grade 3 children spent a sweet morning at Chocolate Heaven. Cacao beans come from Brazil and as we are discussing this country in our Theme lessons, we decided to incorporate an outing to this well-known area of the Junction. Friday 9th February saw us tasting and experiencing the different flavours of chocolate. The children each received a plate filled with delicacies, such as strawberries, grapes, nougat, shortbread and turkish delight, to dip into the chocolate and the fun began! There was chocolate everywhere – faces, hair, clothes and hands.

Oh, what fun we have in Grade 3!

Trip to Greystone - 26 -27 February

The Gr 3 children embarked on a two -day trip that included a variety of activities, obstacle courses and team building. Greystone camp is situated in the heart of Moor Park, surrounded by thorn trees and the most picturesque view of Wagondrift Dam.

Although the weather was drizzly for most part of our time, the highlight of the trip was the exhilarating afternoon of paintball. Laughter echoed through the air as colourful paint splattered across the battlefield, creating lasting memories for our young boys and girls. Negotiation and communication skills were at the forefront of the blindfold and guessing games.

Following closely on the excitement scale was the ziplining adventure. The children embraced the thrill of soaring through the air surrounded by the scenic surrroundings. The experience not only provided an adrenaline rush but also encouraged overcoming personal fears and fostering a sense of accomplishment.

We returned to school well exercised, richer in friendships and blessed to have had the opportunity to experience another beautiful part of our country, which happens to be on our doorstep.

Chinese Banquet - 8 March

Following our investigation of China as a part of our termly theme world cultures, the Grade 3 children came to school dressed in traditional Chinese attire. We spent the day making Chinese lanterns followed by a Chinese- themed banquet. The children feasted on spring rolls, noodles, and omelettes. They also learned to eat using chopsticks, this was a good test for their fine motor skills!

A wonderful way to explore Chinese culture through the sharing of food and drink. This was a highlight for the term, and we look forward to studying India as our next port of call for the theme work.
