Trip to Notties Farm - 22 February

On Thursday, 22 February, our Grade 2 children embarked on an overnight camp to Notties Farm. Hosted by Spirit of Adventure, we had two action-packed, fun-filled days learning about the origins of our food. On the first day, we engaged in harvesting potatoes and observed the sorting and packaging process. Following a brief break and snack, we explored the distinction between mielies and sweet corn, allowing our boys and girls to pick their own. Lunch was next on the agenda followed by the planting of broccoli seedlings. The afternoon ended with the children demonstrating their bravery by participating in kayak races and even taking jumps off the jetty on the dam!

As the mist rolled in covering the hills and mountains, we kept warm beside the fire and enjoyed braaiing our sweetcorn pickings from earlier in the day, of course, no camp is complete without roasting marshmallows! Tired from a busy day, an early night brought the arrival of our second day. We harvested broccoli, learnt about some of the birdlife, and finally engaged in an exciting treasure hunt! A quick swim and paddle in the dam brought our trip to a close before heading home.

A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Moor for allowing us to visit their beautiful farm and well done to our Grade 2s for making this trip an excellent and memorable experience.
