Junior Primary Art Auction - 1 March

Last Friday, Clifton Nottingham Road Junior Primary (Grade 000 – Grade 3) hosted their Junior Primary Art Auction. This is one of two Junior Primary fundraising events for the year. The purpose of the evening was to raise funds to purchase classroom furniture required to create a highly- effective learning environment for our JP classrooms. This includes the incorporation of mobile soft seating for flexible spaces, wobble stools catering for active learners, and interactive whiteboard tables to facilitate engaged learning and collaboration. The initiative is aimed at transforming our classrooms into dynamic, and adaptive spaces creating an environment that is not only engaging but also flexible, utilising mobile seating and adjustable desks.

The art pieces auctioned on the evening were made by The Pre-Primary and Junior Primary children, under the guidance of their class teachers, JP Art teacher Mrs. Jane Cahill, and within the theme ‘Things that light up our life’.

All the children were provided with fabric that they painted, and this painted fabric was then used to create Lou Harvey Beach bags. During the weekly art lessons with Mrs. Jane Cahill, the children created various class and grade-specific art pieces such as lampshades, headboards, and a display cabinet. The Grade 000 & 00 children drew self-portraits and various other drawings and images that were artistically meshed to form a class-specific canvas. These items were auctioned on the night by an experienced and well-known member of the community and auctioneer.

In addition to the thrilling live auction, we simultaneously ran a silent auction during the evening. Guests had the opportunity to participate by recording their bids next to various enticing items, including but not limited to chickens, meat hampers, a live lamb, scatter cushions and an array of spa and beauty vouchers. At a designated time, the final and winning bid was determined based on the last recorded bid for each item in the silent auction. We are sincerely grateful to our parent body and greater community for their generous donations making our silent auction possible.

It was a wonderful event, showcasing and celebrating our children’s creativity and artistic flair. It was also an evening where we were able to connect as a community enjoying each other’s company and coming together to raise funds to enhance our special Clifton Junior Primary. Thank you!
