Summer School

We are starting to build our list for Summer School. We will be having a SNAP meeting with you to help you determine student need.

Feel free to begin to add your students to the following list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16E-srly1YkTkaXJg3ncNG9ljwE6yj25zXxF2_FlGiKc/edit?usp=sharing

We will determine students by those not anticipating passing STAAR, academic progress, and teachers particpating.

Learning the Language

Learning the Language has provided English language instruction through research-based strategies for over 30 years.

Learning the Language is an English acquisition program for our emergent bilingual students in CFBISD. Learning the Language serves all of our elementary schools but will focus only on PK and K this summer.

Through a written, multidisciplinary curriculum, second language acquisition strategies, and your expertise – students will learn content and language simultaneously.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current Bilingual or ESL Pre-K student

  • Current Bilingual or ESL Kinder student who did NOT attend Pre-K last year

  • Current Bilingual or ESL Kinder student who attended Pre-K last year, but did NOT attend Learning the Language last summer (June 2022)

  • Current Pre-K or Kinder student New to the U.S.A this school year (2022-2023)

When: June 2-June 29, 2023 (Monday-Thursdays only) No school on Monday, June 19, 2023
Where: TBD
Time: 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Learning the Language letters are printed and will be sent home with eligible learners and should be returned by April 28. If learners are eligible for this Summer Learning program, please encourage their parents to sign them up for it! It's a great program!

Say Yes To New Adventures....

As staff members share their news for next year, I will post it here.

Once a Lion, Always a Lion! Congrats on your new adventure!

Madison Pye

Mrs. Pye's new adventure will be working closer to home.

Kathryn Cunningham

Mrs. Cunningham's new adventure will be heading back home! She will be moving out of state to be with her family.

MacKenzie Kohler

Mrs. Kohler's new adventure is moving to an outpatient pediatric feeding and speech clinic much closer to her house.

Corey Lee

Mr. Lee's new adventure is relocating out of this area due to his wife getting a new job

Lion Leader

Each 9 weeks we will choose Lion Leaders for each grade level.

We need nominations for Habit 6 AND Habit 7 The reason we are delayed is that I needed to order more shirts and it is taking a while. I will celebrate BOTH of these habits when I get the new shirts.

How is a student chosen to be a Lion Leader?
One boy and one girl is chosen per grade level.

How is the student recognized?
The students will be recognized on FB and a treat with the principals. They will also have their picture on our leadership wall.

Who chooses the student?
The grade level team. Team leader submits the name by Friday, May 5th

SNAP Sheets - These need to be completed for the SNAP meeting next week

As you are wrapping up grades, please remember to update the SNAP sheet. We use this document to monitor student progress, title support, and accommodations for STAAR.
