We will also examine the question of identity in context with our learning cycle theme, which is: what factors in our neighborhood, such as schools, resources, safety, etc. influence who we are as people?

Today we will examine identity and poetry. We will first review the ELA 1.1, Reading Fiction continua to make sure we understand how we know we are using strategies effectively to help us read and citing evidence to support our interpretations. This is a practice task.

Step Two: review annotation symbols and expectations. Discuss what works/doesn't work
Step Three: introduce Get/Don't charts with poetry
Step Four: Read "Dinosaurs in the Hood" by Danez Smith with guided analysis.
