Week 12 Objective: Students will begin exploring historical housing discrimination against African American communities throughout the 20th Century as an example of systemic racism. Students will analyze the causes of housing discrimination and the effects housing discrimination has had on forming modern day communities. (SS 1.2/ SS 1.3)
Tuesday, November 19th - Continuation of Introduction to Housing Discrimination. Students will take notes during a combination of teacher lecture and videos.
Wednesday, November 20th - In groups of 3, students will explore the following documents to gain additional perspective on the circumstances that led to residential segregation. Students will spend today reading their assigned article, answering short-answer questions, and developing 1-2 slides to present to the class on what their document can help us understand about residential experience. (Moved to Monday, November 25th)
Thursday, November 21st - Students will present the slides on their document to the class defining key terms, explaining the general circumstances of the document, and concluding what we can learn about the circumstances that led to housing segregation as it exists today. Audience members will have to complete the chart below as students present. (Moved to Tuesday, November 26th)
