Week 8 Objective: Part 2 of Learning Cycle 1 begins this week with a quick recap of what content and skills we've covered so far and a brief look ahead. Students will begin looking at how to analyze causes and effects of historical events. In addition, students will launch into Part 2 by designing their own city. This will begin our analysis of how institutional racism has shaped American neighborhoods. (SS 1.2, SS 1.3)
Monday, October 21st: Breakdown of Social Studies Competency 1.2: Analyzing Causes of Historical Events and Social Studies Competency 1.3: Analzying Effects of Historical Events.
If there's time, we will launch Part 2 of Learning Cycle 1 by introducing city planning.
Tuesday, October 22nd: Design a City Project - Students will work in groups of 4 to design a city. Students will be evaluated based on NGE 3.1 - Interact and Participate Effectively with Others. Students will be asked to consider what must go into a city, provide a rough draft of what their city would look like, and then produce a polished, final map of their city.

Thursday, October 24th: Social Justice Art (Thursday) - Due to Friday's Kickball Tournament, we will have Social Justice Art Friday on Thursday this week.
