We wrestled some of the best teams in the state and against other teams from other states. We’re just going to keep improving and getting better.” His comments show how motivated the team is and how they are focused on continuing to grow throughout the season.

I went out, did what I normally do, wrestle how I normally wrestle anybody else, and got the job done.” When asked about Regionals, he said, “I expect to win regions for the 4th time and I plan on going to state this year trying to get number 1.”
Lyla Smith was also interviewed about the seniors leaving and about Regionals. She said, “I’m definitely super sad about the seniors leaving. They’ve really shaped our program and helped us succeed. I’m really sad to see them go because I’m friends with all of them. For regions, we’re very excited. The girls team is ranked 2nd and the guys are top 5, I’m pretty sure, so I think we’re going to go in there and get a good outcome. I think we’re going to do great and I’m really excited for it!”
Make sure to cheer on the boys and girls wrestling teams as they head to Regionals!

Last Saturday, the boys wrestling team took a trip to Trinity High School.
They fought hard but didn't come out with a win. Unfortunately, Union County won the tournament, but the boys came in 3rd. A couple of the members on the wrestling team explained that they need to improve, especially with their state duals coming up, and that they are trying to get them to be near perfect.
They wrestled the number one team in the state. Jackson Burger, a senior on the team said “I think as long as we come to practice and get to work, there will be a dual that will lessen the gap. We have a really big weekend in front of us, and I think we need to use last weekend as a kind of wake up call.”
Coaches and players are confident going into next weekend, using their improvement from last weekend.

Last Saturday, the girls wrestling team went to Madison Central High School to compete in the Madison Central Tomahawk Classic. With many players sick and not able to come the Rebels were still able to go for a good day.
Unfortunately, they did not win but everyone worked hard. A quote about this weekend from Aubrey White, who is on the team says “We were missing quite a few girls and not everyone was feeling the best but everyone persevered and wrestled their hardest and learned from any mistakes made.”
The girls did their best as some of them even placed. Hailey Cappelli and Makayla Fowler got first place, and Porter Tagarook got third place. They have a strong group of girls knowing that the three girls that placed were 7th, 8th and 9th graders.
They look forward to their next tournament that is the 14th at Boyle County High School, and they will weigh in at 7:30am.
