On April 23rd, the Boyle County boys and girls tennis teams competed against Lincoln County, earning dominant 9–0 victories on both sides.
For the girls, singles wins came from Ella Perry (6–2), Adeline Germann (6–1), Laney Herron (6–0), Breanne Hutchison (6–3), Caroline Adams (6–0), and Brynn Bentley (6–0). The girls also swept all three doubles matches, with Ella Perry and Jenny Wilson winning 6–1, Lia Da Costa and Rhodes Turpen winning 6–0, and Caroline Adams and Laney Herron winning 6–0.
On the boys side, singles victories were earned by Finn Strand (8–3), Desmond Rapp (8–1), Jona Voss (8–0), Austin Anness (8–0), Luca Carballal (8–2), and Cooper Costello (8–6). The boys continued their strong performance in doubles, where all three teams came out on top. Austin Anness and Jona Voss won 8–0, Alex Godbey and Alosha McSweyn won 8–5, and Cooper Costello and Desmond Rapp secured an 8–0 victory.
After the match, Alex Godbey said, “It was a good match to help prepare for districts.”
Overall, the Boyle County tennis teams delivered an impressive performance, sweeping Lincoln County and building momentum as they head toward postseason play.

Monday, April 20th, the Boyle County Rebels took on Somerset Christian at home. Nearing the end of the season, the Rebels are maintaining their winning streak.
The girls won by a 7-point lead, finishing 8-1, The boys' team won 9-0. Jacob King, Cooper Costello, Alosha Mcsweyn, Alex Godbey, Finn Strand, and Austin Anness won their singles matches, and in doubles, Alex Godbey and Alosha Mcsweyn, Desmond Rapp and Henry Boyd, and Austin Anness and Finn Strand won. The girls' team, Brynn Bentley, Jenny Wilson, Layne Herron, Bre Hutchenson, and Adeline Germane, won their individual and every doubles team won.
Girls captain Mattie Carilston states ¨Our team has grown in so many ways that I can't even begin to describe. Everyone's skills have developed so well, our doubles teams have really developed a connection, and our movement on the court has improved a lot. To me though, the greatest growth within our team has been the personal connections. In the beginning of the year everyone seemed to have their couple friends, but now we are all really good friends with one another. I have had such a privilege to be able to see girls from different backgrounds, and interest come together and bond over this amazing sport! From our shared matching ribbon to our shared laughs, we have truly become a family!¨
The girls' record is now 8-2, and the boys' is 9-3.

On April 21, the Boyle County boys and girls tennis teams competed against Southwestern. One team earned a dominant victory, while the other fought hard despite a tough result. The boys finished 1–4 overall, while the girls swept Southwestern with a 9–0 win.
For the boys, the lone singles victory came from Jacob King, who won 6–4. In doubles play, Boyle was unable to secure a win, with both teams falling in their matches.
On the girls’ side, singles victories came from Matilyn Carlsen (8–0), Adeline Germann (6–2), Breanne Hutchison (6–0), Ella Perry (6–1), and Lia Da Costa (6–0). The doubles teams continued the dominance, as all three pairs earned wins: Caroline Adams and Laney Herron (8–4), Jenny Wilson and Ella Perry (6–0), and Lia Da Costa and Adeline Germann (6–1).
After the match, Laney Herron said, “I’d say it was a pretty good win for us, but it has been a hard week with four matches in a row.” Overall, the Boyle County tennis teams gave strong efforts, highlighted by the girls’ dominant performance over Southwestern.

On April 16th, the Boyle County boys and girls tennis teams competed against Somerset, earning strong victories on both sides. The boys finished with an overall score of 7–2, while the girls secured a 6–3 win.
For the girls, singles victories came from Jenny Wilson (7–5), Laney Herron (7–5), Breanne Hutchison (6–3), Caroline Adams (6–1), and Brynn Bentley (6–0). Matilyn Carlsen fell 1–8. In doubles play, one of the three teams earned a win, with Ella Perry and Jenny Wilson taking their match 6–1.
On the boys side, singles winners included Alosha McSweyn (7–5), Alex Godbey (7–5), Henry Boyd (6–1), Austin Anness (6–0), and Cooper Costello (8–6), while Finn Strand fell 0–6. In doubles, two of the three teams were victorious: Austin Anness and Henry Boyd won 6–0, and Alex Godbey and Alosha McSweyn won a close 9–7 match.
After the match, Cooper Costello said, “It was a pretty successful night. I think we won all but one singles match, so we did really well there. In doubles, we won two out of three, but there are still some things to work on.”
Overall, the Boyle County tennis teams delivered a strong performance and came out on top against Somerset.

Title: Boyle Controls The Court
Boyle County’s tennis team came out strong in their match against East Jessamine, with the girls securing a dominant 9–0 victory.
In girls singles, Brynn Bentley won 8–0, Jenny Wilson battled to a 9–7 win, Laney Herron won 8–0, Breanne Hutchison 8–2, and Caroline Adams 6–0. In doubles, Caroline Adams and Laney Herron won 8–0, Jenny Wilson and Ella Perry also won 8–0, and Lia Da Costa and Macy Couch finished with a 6–0 win.
For the boys, Cooper Costello won 8–2, Alosha McSweyn 8–0, and Finn Strand 8–0 in singles. In doubles, Alex Godbey and Alosha McSweyn secured an 8–1 victory, giving the boys a 4–0 overall win.
From the very first serve, Boyle showed strong teamwork in both singles and doubles. The team stayed focused and communicated well throughout the match, helping them stay in control.
Cooper Costello said, “I think the match went really well. It was really competitive on both sides,” highlighting the effort from both teams. Despite the competition, Boyle maintained the advantage and played with confidence.
Overall, it was a great win for Boyle County and a strong performance as the team looks ahead to the rest of the season.

On April 4th, the Boyle County boys and girls tennis teams competed against DCA, with both teams earning strong victories. The boys finished with an overall score of 8–1, while the girls dominated with a 9–0 win.
In boys singles, Alosha McSweyn won 8–3, Finn Strand 8–1, Alex Godbey 8–2, Henry Boyd 8–1, Warner Wiles 8–2, and Luca Carballal 6–1. In doubles, two of the three teams were victorious: Austin Anness and Henry Boyd won 8–0, and Luca Carballal and Jona Voss won 8–5.
For the girls, singles wins came from Jenny Wilson (8–1), Laney Herron (8–0), Breanne Hutchison (8–4), Adeline Germann (8–3), Lia Da Costa (8–2), and Macy Couch (8–2). In doubles, Caroline Adams and Laney Herron won 8–2, Jenny Wilson and Ella Perry won 8–2, and Lia Da Costa and Adeline Germann won 8–5.
After the match, Laney Herron said, “I would say the match was fun, but it was so windy and ended up being a great win for us!” Despite the windy conditions, both teams played well and secured impressive victories.

On March 24th, Boyle County Tennis faced off against Wayne County in a competitive and exciting matchup, ultimately coming out on top. The boys team battled hard, finishing singles play with a 6–5 edge, while Wayne County took the doubles matches 3–0. This brought the overall boys score to 5–4, securing a narrow but well-earned victory for Boyle.
In singles action, Jacob, Alosha, Finn, Alex, and Cooper each delivered strong performances to earn wins for the Rebels. Their consistency and focus played a key role in pushing the team ahead. On the girls side, Mattie, Bren, Laney, and Adeline all came out victorious in their singles matches, showcasing their skill and determination on the court.
The success continued into doubles play for the girls, where Mattie and Brynn teamed up for a win, along with Ella and Jenny, who also secured a doubles victory. Their teamwork and communication helped seal a great day for the girls team overall. “Everyone played their best from both teams, despite the cold weather” states Bre Hutchinson about her thoughts on the match.
With strong performances across the board, Boyle County Tennis proved their resilience and talent. Be sure to come out and support the Rebels as they prepare for their next match!

On Monday, March 23, the Boyle County Rebels tennis team played against the Cacey County Rebels at home. The girls were defeated 4-5 by Casey in multiple back-and-forth matches. Junior Brynn Bentley, freshman Layney Herron, and junior Mattie Carilston all won their singles, as well as freshman Jenny Wilson and 8th grader Ella Perry winning their doubles match. The girls took their loss with their heads held high and are looking forward to the next match. Unfortunately, the boys also lost 2-7, with 8th grader Auston Ainnes and captain Cooper Costelow winning their singles. Although this isn't the result Boyle was hoping for, both teams walked off the courts better than they were before. Layney Herron states after her match ¨This was a good team, and it doesn't feel good to lose, but we are getting better every day, and the community we have built is getting stronger every day.¨ The Boyle Rebels face off against Wayne County tomorrow, the 24, and we will see Cacey County again for a rematch at Regions.

On March 19th, both the boys and girls tennis teams gave their all against Pulaski but came up short. The boys lost a close match 2–3, while the girls fell 0–5. Cooper Costello, a senior, and Austin Ainnes, an eighth grader, both earned wins in their matches.
“I think the main thing we need to work on is doubles,” said Cooper Costello. “That’s what hurt us the most. All of our doubles teams lost, so improving teamwork in doubles will be important for matches ahead.”
Despite the losses, the team remained competitive throughout the match. “Every single match was competitive, so I think overall the match went well,” Costello added. “Pulaski is better than us, so we did better than expected, but we still have things to work on.”

Over the past week, the boys tennis team sent two singles players and two doubles teams to compete in the 12th Region Tournament. The two singles players were Sean Guiney and Jacob King, while the two doubles teams were Desmond Rapp with Alosha McSweyn, and Cooper Costello with Bryar Bentley.
In the singles tournament, Jacob King beat his first opponent in the round of 32, before losing in tiebreaker to Zach Hesse from Wayne County. Sean Guiney had a successful tournament run, winning his first two matches. Guiney eventually got matched up against the number one seed in the tournament in the quarter finals, where he lost in super tiebreaker.
Desmond Rapp and Alosha McSweyn went out in the first round in super tiebreaker for the doubles tournament, ending their season. Cooper Costello and Bryar Bentley also lost in the first round in super tiebreaker as well.
As the individual seasons end, the Rebels look forward to team regionals next week. Talking about the season, Sean Guiney said, “I’m very proud of everyone on this team. Everyone has experienced a lot of growth and I feel like the team will take another jump next season.”

On the 28th, the Boyle boys' tennis team went on the road to play Lincoln. With amazing weather, they were ready to battle. There were some close matches, the doubles teams were having a difficult time but at the end of the night, the score was 5-4, Boyle!
They had Sean Guiney, Jacob King, Alex Godbey, Desmond Rapp, Finn Strand, and Bryar Bentley playing in signals. In doubles, they had McClain Denny and Bryar Bentley, Desmond Rapp and Alosha McSweyen, and lastly Brady Jackson and Cooper Jackson.
McClain Denny says, “As the day went on, I could tell that Bryar and I were going to be the deciding match. We would have to go out there and get the job done, and that's what we did.”
With the Rebels coming off a great win they are ready for the next game. It will be their senior night at home against Somerset Christian.

On Thursday, the boys tennis team hosted the West Jessamine Colts in a close 12th Region matchup.
In the number one singles slot, Sean Guiney was able to take care of business. Jacob King followed suit in the second singles position, winning his match as well.
Alosha McSweyn and Desmond Rapp handled their matchup in the number one doubles spot. Even with Cooper Costello, and Alex Godbey with Austin Anness losing, the Rebels won 3-2.
This was a big win for Boyle County as they look to take care of Garrard County Friday.

On Tuesday, the Rebels faced off against the Yellow Jackets on their home court. The weather was not ideal, with it being so windy they would need to prepare and change things when needed. After a long day and a hard fight, the final score was 5-2, Boyle!
They had Jacob King, Sean Guiney, Cooper Costello, and Alex Godbey playing singles. Also, they had Jacob King and Cooper Costello, Desmond Rapp and Brady Jackson, as well as Alex Godbey and Alosha McSweyn playing doubles.
Jacob King said, “We came out for our first match since spring break, and we came out hot, with the boys and girls both winning.” They were ready for the competition and weather leading them to victory.

This week, the Boyle County Boys Tennis Team played Casey County. They put up a good fight to come out on top. Casey county is known to be a tough opponent in the tennis world. But what about the players that aren’t seeded? What do they do? Well, they play an exhibition match to prepare for their time on the courts. One exhibition player, Finn Strand, says “Well I can’t play yet. I'm excited to get a chance to show what I can do so I can get out on the courts soon”. Good luck to the tennis team as they continue to play throughout the year!

On Saturday, the boys tennis team traveled to Paris to take on Bourbon County.
It was only a five-match competition, with three singles games and two doubles games.
For the singles, Jacob King was playing in the number one position. Alongside him were Alex Godbey and Austin Anness, both in the two and three singles spots.
For doubles, the number one team was Desmond Rapp and Cooper Costello. The number two team was Alosha McSweyn and Warner Wiles.
Boyle County was able to pick up a huge win over a tough opponent after winning four matches and only dropping one.
The next match the boys tennis team will be against the 12th Region blue bloods, Casey County. They will play Monday, March 24th.

On Tuesday, the boys tennis team took on Danville in a cross-town rivalry matchup.
Sean Guiney was leading the way in the number one singles spot, but three games in while he was up 3-0, he had to forfeit due to injury. Next, Jacob King was up in the number two singles spot where he won a tough match in tiebreaker. Cooper Costello was the number three singles player and he lost a tough match.
Brady Jackson was the Rebels’ number four singles player, and he won his match! With the overall score being 2-2, Desmond Rapp came up in the five singles spot, but he lost a close match. To close out the singles lineup, Austin Anness also lost his match.
Now for the doubles, Jacob King and Cooper Costello lost in the number one doubles spot. In the second doubles spot, Desmond Rapp and Alosha McSweyn also took a tough loss. Finally, McClain Denny and Brady Jackson won the number three doubles match.
The final score was Boyle County 3, Danville 6. Talking about the game, a senior leader said, “I’m proud of our team’s resilience and effort tonight. We played through some unfortunate injuries and still came away with a couple wins.”
The boys tennis team will look to take on West Jessamine on Thursday.

Last week, on March 13th, the Boyle County tennis team went to Pulaski. After coming off two wins, the boys were ready to play. They knew Pulaski had a lot of talent, the boys fought hard but lost 0-5.
Sean Guiney, Jacob King, and Alex Godbey played singles. Desmond Rapp and Aloysa McSweyen, Brady Jackson, and Cooper Costello played doubles.
One of the singles players, Jacob King, said, “We prepared and practiced very hard for this match knowing they were a really good team. But we still fell short, and we will continue to work and get better.”
With the team's record now at 2-1, they are looking to do well as they take on Rockcastle County next week on the 17th.

On Tuesday, the boys tennis team traveled to Russell County to play their second match of the season.
The first match to conclude was the one seed singles, where Sean Guiney cruised to an 8-0 victory. Next, Jacob King also got a huge victory, pushing the match score to 2-0 for the Rebels. The final singles player for Boyle County was Alex Godbey who secured the victory for Boyle County.
Both doubles teams for Boyle County also won, making the final match score 5-0 in favor of the Rebels.
This was a big win for the Rebels as they look to take on a dominant Pulaski County team on Thursday. The boys team improves to 2-0 on the season.

On March 8th at East Jessamine, the boys' tennis team played their first match of the season. Jacob, Sean, and Alex competed in singles. All three players won. Brady and Cooper played doubles, as did Alosha and Desmond. Both Doubles teams won 5-0! With this being their first matches of the season, and the girls also doing very well, they were excited to start the season strong.
Jacob King, one of the athletes who competed last week, said, “We’ve been practicing hard every day, and it showed during the East Jessamine matches with both the girls and boys winning.” The players put a lot of work in during the postseason and it looks like it is paying off.
As the team just started their season, they still have a lot of work to do, but they started the season strong, setting them up for an amazing season!
