On Saturday, Boyle Bass Fishing headed to Lake Cumberland to compete in the regional tournament. Boyle had many anglers in the top 40!
Some key fishers for Boyle County were Riley Preston and Kyler Claunch, placing 4th overall and qualifying for state! When askes about their preformance in the tournament, Preston said, “It was easy to get a limit, just had to find the size¨.
Colin Wise and Emmit Grubs also qualified! Wise and Grubs placed 14th with four catches, also qualifying for state! Colin Wise said, “We spent three days practicing down at Cumberland the week before, we had a great time, caught a lot of fish, and were confident. However, the tournament never goes as planned. It was a grind all day on Saturday, and luckily we churned out a top 15 finish and made it to state.”
As for the women's team, Abigail Short and Allie Addison came in first! Abigail Short said, “Going into the tournament day, we weren’t too sure about how our day would go, but with the encouragement of our boat captain, coaches, and families, we were able to bring in a good limit of fish. Winning for us wasn’t just about getting a trophy, but was a feeling of accomplishment for ourselves and our school and program. This was a highlight of our year, and we are so thankful for everyone who makes it possible for the fishing team to get to do what we love!”
Her partner, Allie Addison, said, “It was a great day! We had a limit by 9 a.m., and then we were able to upgrade the size from there. Abigail and I knew we had a shot. They will also get to fish at the state tournament!
Congratulations to all teams, and good luck to our Boyle fishers in the state tournament!
