Tuesday night, September 23rd, 2025, was a big night for the Boyle County Cross Country team as the Rebels raced in one of the biggest meets of the season — the Central Kentucky Championships. The team was familiar with this course, as many runners had competed here before. The CKC course is well-known for its difficulty, featuring more total elevation gain than elevation loss.
The girls’ race started at 6:30 PM with plenty of anticipation in the air. The Lady Rebels came into this race determined to perform well on a challenging course. Sophomore runner Izzy Phillips led the team, placing 41st, followed by senior Aubrey White in 43rd. Sophomore Lexi Preston finished 48th, while the Whitis sisters had strong races as well — Abigail Whitis placed 52nd and Analeigh Whitis placed 54th. The girls’ team placed 6th overall with 189 points out of eight teams.
The boys’ race began at 7:00 PM, with the Rebel runners feeling confident and hoping for some personal records after strong results the previous Saturday. Although the boys did not have a full team to record a team score, they competed hard and came away with several PRs. Senior runner Adam Cooper led the way, finishing 6th overall with an impressive time of 17:05.85. Sophomore runners Miles Cappelli and Hayden Godsey both earned PRs — Miles with a 19:52.04 and Hayden with a 20:47.73.
Both runners said before the race that they felt motivated and ready, and afterward, they were proud of their results.
The Rebels will race again this weekend at the Bluegrass Invitational 2025 on September 27th.

It was Week 4 of the cross country season, and the Rebels headed south to Berea, Kentucky. The team was shorthanded, with Junior Kyle Whitsell missing from the boys lineup and Freshman Siddalea Gray out for the girls. The course itself was a true cross country challenge, winding through forested trails and even crossing a creek.
The boys race began at 9:00 a.m. Senior Adam Cooper showed resilience after a fall mid-race and he managed to bounce back and finish 5th overall with an impressive 17:10.86. Sophomore Miles Cappelli placed 61st (20:38.68), followed by fellow Sophomore Hayden Godsey in 86th (21:15.84). Mason Ball rounded out the team with a 109th-place finish (22:36.66). With only four runners competing, the Rebels could not record a team score in the boys 5K results.
The girls race followed at 9:45 a.m. Beforehand, Coach MLP noted this was a rare chance to compete against region opponent Corbin outside of the postseason. Sophomore Izzy Phillips led the way with a 44th-place finish, followed by Sophomore Lexi Preston (48th) and Senior Aubrey White (50th). Sophomore Mckenzy Neyhouse placed (56th), while Freshman Analeigh Whitis and Sophomore Abigail Whitis came in 66th. Out of 15 teams, Boyle County placed 6th overall with 202 points. Corbin finished 4th, highlighting just how competitive KHSAA Region 5 Class 2A will be this year.
Next up for the Rebels is the Central Kentucky Championships (CKC) 2025 in Versailles, KY, on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Admiral Football stadium is not the place you would expect a Cross Country Meet but that is where your rebels were at on the first Saturday of this month. The EG Plummer invitational which cross town rival Danville was at would be there competing in as well.

Freshman Siddalea Gray placed the highest for the team and placed 24th out of 73 girls with a time of 23:56.48. The other girls placing points for the team Izzy Phillips (28th Place), Aubrey White (31st Place), Lexi Preston (34th Place), Analeigh Whitis (42nd place), Abigail Whitis (44th Place), Lilly Kurtz (48th Place), Mckenzy Neyhouse(52nd), and Adeline Germann (55th Place). Nothing like an early rise at 6:00 AM — that’s how your Boyle County High School Cross Country team started their morning on August 30th. Going into this meet, the boys unfortunately did not have a full team, as senior runner Adam Cooper was on a college visit that day and Hagan Elliott is still out for the season. Despite missing people, the team showed up ready to do their best to start off the season.
The boys’ race began around 9:00 AM ET. Junior runner Kyle Whitsel said, “The team all ran really well, even though we didn’t have a full team both the girls and boys ran a really good race.” Runner Miles Cappelli got a new PR of 20:30.29, Hayden Godsey got a new PR of 21:24.06, and Mason Ball, in his first 5K, finished with a time of 23:22.63. Runner Kyle Whitsel ran a time of 19:38.53, placing highest for Boyle and finishing 21st out of 110 runners.
The girls’ race began around 9:45 AM ET with new faces on the team as well. Freshman runner Siddalea Gray placed the highest for the girls, running 23:56.19 and finishing 28th overall. Senior runner Aubrey White ran 24:08.34. The girls also had new XC runners — the sister duo Abigail Whitis and Analeigh Whitis — who both had strong times to start the season. The girls placed 6th out of 8 teams to open the season.
The team will head to Danville next week for the EG Plummer Invitational, hoping to have a full boys’ lineup.

While our cross country team did not win state, they did put up their best fight to win. Last weekend, Boyle County Cross country teams ran at state with the girls team coming in 16th and the boys team coming in 17th. Both teams put in fights on and off the course, for example one of the boys runners, Hagan Elliott, ran at state despite being injured with a strand hip. Through this athlete, he represents one small part of his team. You can see how hard these athletes push themselves and how much this sport means to them.
This is just what one athlete has to share ¨I think as a team, we did amazing. The boys team placed 17th and the girls team placed 15th out of 30 teams! We had a great finish to the season¨ says Izzy Phillips, she and her other teammates have truly shown what they are made of and what a great way to end their season.

Last Saturday, October 29th our boys and girls cross country team had a meet at Monticello, with the girls finishing in 2nd and the boys finishing in 4th at Regions. Now both teams will be advancing to state.
To put a cherry on top of the whole meet, Adam Cooper placed 4th and Micah Brown placed 8th, they both received medals. Micah Brown says “Saturday our team performed very well. We ran the same course the weekend before Regions to prepare, and got our minds and bodies ready during the week. When we got there we all got warmed up and got the placements we needed to advance to start the next weekend. We are looking forward to state this weekend and another great team performance”.
Congratulations to all of our cross country team runners and their advancement to state!
