The Rebels traveled to Pulaski to play Somerset in an attempt to win a region title. The boys came off two big wins against Danville and Lincoln County to win a district title. The Rebels fought really hard during the district tournament, with all their injured players returning at a perfect time!
Boyle was looking to make a run during the region tournament where they played the district runners-up of the 47th district Somerset Briar Jumpers. The Briar Jumpers won the Region last year where they had an amazing season.The Rebels were playing on a short field where they controlled the ball really well getting many shots on goal. The Rebels ended the first half tied at 0-0 with the Briar Jumpers. The game was 0-0 for most of the 2nd half but the Briar Jumpers put one in the back of the net to get the lead 1-0 with 20 minutes left. Somerset scored short in the region tournament but the Seniors Ezra Brandt, Bryce Combs, Jacob Kirchner, Dalton Potts, Jackson Thornberry had an amazing career here for the boys Boyle County soccer program.
Sophomore Eli Wilson scoring 8 goals leading the team in scoring with his speed as striker, senior Jake Preston scoring 3 goals with a clutch goal against Lincoln County in the District championship to win and a key piece to the defensive line,
Junior Zac Kirchner with 3 goals with his speed on the wing position, Junior Welles DeLair scoring 1 with his shooting power, Junior Evan Perry with 1 goal stepping up as center back mid season and key to many victories for the Rebels. Also the keeper Dru Eppinghoff Freshman who has a bright future ahead and will be key to this program in the future and having 45 saves on the season.
Senior Bryce Combs with well over 200 saves on the season finishing top 20 for most saves this season and 1 shutout. The Rebels finish the season with a constitution cup, a district title and a record of 5-12-1.

The Rebels traveled to Madison Central on September, 30th. These boys ended their season with a loss 8-0 to Madison Central.
Madison Central is a very good team and controlled the ball for the whole game, scoring 8 goals with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half.
The goals Madison Central scored were breakaways and 1v1s with the goalie. Senior Bryce Combs stated, “They were a very skilled team and they were definitely one of the best teams we've played all season. But now it’s time to look forward and prepare for the district tournament.”
The Rebels look to bounce back in the district tournament, where they will play Danville at an undetermined time, but will be held at Lincoln County next week.

On September 29th the Boyle County Boys Soccer team had a tough matchup against South Laurel at home. Both teams battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in a tightly contested matchup. The game carried extra meaning as it was Boyle’s senior night as the Rebels were determined to put on a strong performance.
South Laurel struck first, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to take the lead early into the second half. The goal energized the Cardinals, who pressed forward in hopes of doubling their advantage. But Boyle however showed lots of resilience and refused to back down.
The Rebels began pushing numbers forward, creating more chances as the match wore on. Their persistence finally paid off when they were awarded a penalty kick after sustained pressure inside the box. Sophomore Eli Wilson stepped up to take the penalty kick with confidence. With calm precision, he slotted the ball into the back of the net to level the score at 1-1. The goal ignited the Boyle County crowd and shifted the momentum back in their favor.
Both teams battled fiercely in the closing minutes, but neither side could find the decisive strike. The draw left both squads looking to build on the performance as the season continues. On a night dedicated to honoring Boyle’s seniors, the Rebels fought hard and ensured the celebration ended with a result to be proud of.

On September 24th, the Boyle County boys soccer team traveled to North Laurel for a highly anticipated matchup. Coming off a strong district win against Garrard County, the Rebels were eager to carry that momentum into this game and extend their winning streak.
The game started fast, with North Laurel’s offense wasting no time. The Jaguars struck early, putting two goals on the board within the first 19 minutes. Despite the early deficit, the Rebels responded with determination, creating multiple scoring chances before halftime.
Coming out of the break, Boyle County looked energized and focused. Their persistence paid off when, with just over 16 minutes remaining, Eli Wilson found the back of the net, cutting the Jaguars’ lead in half and giving the Rebels a surge of momentum.
Boyle continued to press for an equalizer, generating several opportunities as the clock wound down. However, in a heartbreaking final minute, North Laurel scored two quick goals in the last 30 seconds, sealing the game.
The Rebels return to action on September 25th at 8:00 PM as they take on South Laurel for Senior Night. Come out and support your Rebels!

Boyle County secured a hard-fought victory over Garrard County in a match that showcased both resilience and execution. The game began with both sides trading possessions with the ball. Garrard worked to keep the Rebels from finding an early rhythm, but Boyle made sure to remain steady under pressure.
The breakthrough came in at the 45-minute mark when Boyle was awarded a penalty kick. Midfielder Eli Wilson stepped up to the spot and calmly converted, giving the Rebels a crucial 1-0 lead just before the break. The goal gave Boyle momentum, while Garrard was left looking to regroup and find a way back into the match in the second half.
With just 30 minutes remaining, Boyle doubled their advantage. Forward Zac Kirchiner found the back of the net after breaking through Garrard’s defense, delivering the insurance goal that sealed the win. Despite Garrard’s late efforts to respond, Boyle’s defense held firm. The Rebels closed out a 2-0 victory and continued their strong winning streak.

The Constitution Cup stays at home. Thursday the 4th, both Boyle's soccer teams played against Danville at home in the annual Danville vs Boyle Constitution cup, double header.
Both teams walked off the field with a trophy in hand. Our Lady Rebels played first at 6 pm at the rebel stadium, where they defeated the Admirals 8-0. The Rebels had a slow start in the first half with a few good shots. The first goal was scored by Addison Hazlett at the 10-minute mark, followed by a beautiful cross and goal from Claire Combs, connecting to Ellery Taylor, who finished it. Mia Kilby had a 30-yard shot shortly after, but it was stopped by the keeper. Claire Combs received her second goal at 26 minutes, which Maggie Burke assisted. Mia Kilby had a breakaway right before the half ended, making the score 4-0 going into the second half.
The Rebels came out with lots of energy. The Rebels had possession at kickoff with a strong lead. The 5th goal was a result of a mishap at the 15-yard line, where the center ref disrupted the play, resulting in a drop ball to Boyle. Mia Kilby took advantage of this and scored in the lower left corner goal.
The highlight of the game happened shortly after when Mia Kilby had a shot that bounced off the crossbar to senior Ellory Taylor, who headed it into the goal over the keeper. Another header resulted in a 7th goal for Boyle shortly after. Senior Regan Britt had a beautiful corner shot which was headed into the goal by Senior defender Braylee Leffew. Sophomore Claire Combs finished the game with a goal at the 64-minute mark, sending the Admirals home and securing the Constitution cup.
The boys started the game off hot, controlling the game with multiple opportunities to score. The first half was very quiet in terms of scoring, but both teams were being very aggressive and fighting hard for the win. The first half ended 0-0, with senior goalkeeper Bryce Combs having a very active first half with 11 saves.
The Rebels feel amazing heading into the 2nd half. The Rebels get a corner with 27 minutes left in the game and sophomore Maverick Toon takes a corner kick and puts it right on the six, where junior Welles Delair scores the 1st goal of the game.
The Rebels were feeling amazing but they knew their job wasn’t finished. The defensive side of the ball was played perfectly, stopping all the opportunities for Danville. With two minutes left junior Zach Kirechner passed the ball to Eli Wilson, who dribbled past the defensive line and scored to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead. The Rebels end up closing out and winning 2-0! Senior goalkeeper Bryce Combs recorded 17 saves and a clean sheet. Bryce Combs states, “I'm very proud of our team and what we can become by the end of the season.”
Make sure to wish both the girls and boys team good luck! As the boys play Boone County on September 6th, at Madison Central. And the girls who play Bardstown September 6th, at Bardstown!

The Rebels are coming off a big confidence booster winning 2-0 in the Constitution Cup. Boyle boys soccer have an 0 in 1 record, losing to a region opponent, Somerset. But still have 2 more games in the Constitution Cup.
The Rebels are playing a quality opponent, Boone County in order to steal a spot for the 2nd place game. The conditions of the field were wet as it rained the morning of. The Rebels are also still suffering from several injuries. But our Rebels continue to work hard as they get multiple opportunities to score, but don't succeed. Boone County scored 2 goals in the first half.
Senior goalkeeper Bryce Combs had 8 saves with many shots taken on him. The Rebels were ready to keep working in the 2nd half as they still had enough determination to win this game. But Boone County played amazing defense. The Rebels were playing amazing defense as well, but unfortunately Boone County scored 2 more goals. Freshman goalkeeper Dru Eppinghoff had 9 saves. The Rebels fell 4-0 against Boone County and will play in the consolation game against a very good region opponent, Wayne County Cardinals.
Boyle had a couple of hours to rest and reset. The Rebels knew they had to make a statement as they started the second game stronger than before. At the start of the game the Rebels came in strong, by attacking the back line and contributing multiple shots. The Rebels played fantastic defense, some even say better than the previous game. But with 5 minutes left in the half, the Cardinals scored to get the lead 1-0. The half ends with senior goalkeeper Bryce Combs recording 17 saves, which is a new record high for him.
Boyle was really confident going into the 2nd half, but unfortunately, Wayne County scored with 20 minutes left in the game. The game began to shut down after that moment. The game ended with a final score of 2-0 with Wayne County coming out on top. The Cardinals had 34 shots this game and their senior goal keeper recorded 21 saves.
Make sure to tell our boys soccer team to keep their heads up as they will play Tuesday, September 9th against a district opponent the Lincoln County Patriots.

The Boyle County Rebels fell 3-1 to Somerset in a tough matchup Tuesday night. But the score doesn’t tell the whole story. Despite the loss, the Rebels showed grit, heart, and flashes of their best soccer of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Bryce Combs summed it up perfectly: “We played the best 80 minutes so far this season. We did amazing in the attacking third and in the defensive third. We are excited to see what we can do toward the end of the season.”
The Rebels entered the match shorthanded, with three key starters sidelined by injuries, yet they still battled toe-to-toe with the Briar Jumpers. Somerset struck first, sneaking in a goal off a corner kick just three minutes before halftime, but Boyle responded with energy and determination.
Although the scoreboard showed a tough loss, the Rebels walked off the field with confidence. A 3-1 final against a tough opponent—while playing undermanned—showed just how much potential this squad has moving forward. With the passion on display Tuesday night, the Rebels look ready to finish the season strong.

On August 23, the Rebels faced the Taylor County Cardinals for a spot in the 2A state section 4 finals. The Rebels played at Taylor county. The boys soccer team has a solid record in the 2A state tournament, with two appearances in the final four over the last four years.
The game kicked off with the Rebels creating several scoring chances early on, but unfortunately, none of their shots found the back of the net. On the other side, Taylor County had their first chance with a corner kick, but freshman goalkeeper Dru Eppinghoff made a spectacular save to keep the game scoreless.
About 30 minutes into the first half, the Cardinals managed to score the first goal. The Rebels kept their heads up, though, and had a chance to respond when Chandler Durham broke away for a 1 on 1 with the Cardinals’ keeper. Chandler took a brilliant shot, but it hit the right post and was cleared by a defender. From there, the Cardinals took control, scoring four more goals before halftime, ending the first half with a 5-0 lead.
The second half started with Taylor County scoring two quick goals, putting them up 7-0 with 30 minutes left to play. Despite the score, the Rebels showed strong defense in the final 30 minutes, holding Taylor County scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The Rebels will look to bounce back when they face Somerset on September 2nd in the Tribe Shootout at Madison Central.

Coming off a hard-fought 4-1 win over Casey County in the first round of 2A section 4. The Rebels traveled to Frankfort County High School for a very adverse soccer game. However, despite battling through injuries and sickness, they faced a tough challenge against a strong Frankfort team that came into the match with a 3-1 record.
Frankfort wasted no time, scoring the first four goals of the game in the first half. Three of those goals came from 1v1 situations with the goalkeeper. And the fourth goal was off a penalty kick. However, just before halftime, with only a minute left, the Rebels managed to respond. Trevor Cochran launched a throw-in from the attacking third, sending the ball into the box, where one of the Rebels converted to score to 4-1.
Despite a rough first half, the Rebels have shown noticeable improvement in the opening periods of their recent games. In the second half, they came out with great intensity and effort on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately, Frankfort added another goal early in the second half, making it 5-1 with 25 minutes left in the game.
Even with several key players out, the Rebels continued to fight hard until the final whistle. The game ended with a 5-1 scoreline with Frankfort coming out on top.
The Rebels will be back in action on Tuesday, August 26, for the second round of 2A sectionals, where they will face Taylor County at 6:00 pm.

On Thursday, The Boys Soccer Team faced off against the West Jessamine Colts during the 12th Region Semifinals at Rebel stadium.
Both teams came out hot and fired up with aggression and battled to achieve a spot in the finals of Region 12. Early in the match, both teams had chances on goal but missed just wide. At the 26 minute mark, Boyle conceded a PK which resulted in 1-0 West Jessamine with the lead. After going down 1 in the first half the Rebels had an awakening, they stood back up with their heads held high coming back from halftime.
At the start of the second half both teams went underway battling to score on one another, The ball was traveling intensely box to box as the time was ticking. As the time was running out the Rebels had a couple of great chances, but were well defended by the West Jessamines defense. Emotions were skyrocketing for both teams as the time was running out. The score remained the same at 1-0 till the final whistle. Boyle is defeated and heartbroken as West Jessamine goes on to the final game of Region 12. Asking Micah Brown, a captain on the Boys team how he felt about the game “We fought hard and had our chances but the ball just didn’t bounce in our favor.”
The Rebels had a great season and all of the Senior boys had a great high school career, I'm lucky to have been a part of such a great program and to amazing coaches throughout my career.

On October 15th, the boy's soccer team played Pulaski County in the first round of the Region 12 tournament. After an amazing district tournament run, the boys looked to carry the momentum into the region. The boys soccer team had many opportunities but could not find the back of the net. The game was 0-0 at the end of regulation and had to be decided in overtime. With 54 seconds left in the first overtime, Zach Kirchner finds the ball in the box and makes an incredible no-look pass to Alan Wireman and scores!!! Alan Wireman was asked his thoughts on the game and said that they “Survive and Advance.” The boys soccer team’s next game is on October 17th at Rebel Stadium against West Jessamine at 8:30 pm.
