Boyle County pulled off an impressive comeback Tuesday night, rallying from a seven-run deficit to defeat Mercer County 13–8 at home.
The Rebels found themselves in an early hole after Mercer County capitalized on a first-inning error to score two runs. The Titans continued to build their lead in the second inning, using a double from Cooper Haven and a single by Brady Payton to extend their advantage.
Despite the slow start, Boyle County responded in a big way in the fourth inning. The Rebels erupted for seven runs on four hits to shift the momentum. Cameron Hogue sparked the rally with a two-run home run to center field. Owen Wheeler followed with a two-run double, and Carter Stapp added another two-run homer. A wild pitch later in the inning brought in an additional run, helping Boyle County close the gap.
The game remained tight until the sixth inning, when Boyle County completed the comeback. The Rebels scored five runs on four hits to take control for good. The key moment came from Caeden Patterson, who delivered a clutch two-run double on an 0–2 count to give Boyle County the lead.
On the mound, Logan Perry played a crucial role in securing the win. Pitching in relief, Perry threw three and one-third innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out four. Starter Andrew Holder faced early pressure, giving up five runs—only two of them earned—over two innings.
Offensively, Boyle County totaled 11 hits in the game. Carter Stapp led the way with three RBIs while going 2-for-2 at the plate. Kyler Claunch, Wheeler, Hogue, and Stapp each recorded two hits. The Rebels also showed patience, drawing eight walks, with Cole Jarnagin leading the team with three.
Mercer County finished with 10 hits, led by Jackson Doughty, who went 3-for-5. Noah Worthington and Payton each drove in two runs, while Ayden Stephens added two hits. Caden Brogli contributed with three walks and three stolen bases as the Titans totaled four steals.
In the end, Boyle County’s explosive middle innings and timely hitting proved too much for Mercer County. The Rebels will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup as they host Southwestern.

On Wednesday, April 30th, the baseball team faced Garrard County twice in one day, and they won in both. This would be the first doubleheader of the year for the Rebels, and it came as a result of poor weather conditions in the days prior. The first game was a 5-2 victory, and the second was a 3-2 victory. This continues the Rebels undefeated district record, and extends their win streak to 10 in a row.
In the first game, it was Austin Bodner of Boyle County who proved to be the most dominant in terms of runs, with 2 runs of his own. However, it was the 3 runs batted in by Caleb Branham that facilitated a good number of the points that the Rebels put up against the Lions. In total, the Rebels were able to achieve 8 total hits between their players. In terms of the pitching, the starting pitcher, Caeden Patterson put up some impressive statistics. He was able to put up 5 strikeouts, while allowing 5 walks in 101 pitches. With his pitching, he was able to achieve an impressive 1.1 ERA. Andrew Messer, outfielder for the Rebels, says, “In the first game, it came down to the pitching that gave us the win.”
On Garrard County’s side in the first game, the two runs they were able to score came from Logan Quinn, and Zacharee Stacy. Both of those scores came from an RBI from the other player, with Quinn batting in Stacy, and Stacy batting in Quinn’s run. In terms of hitting, Garrard was only able to achieve 4 hits total in the entire game, half as much as Boyle. Korbin Folger did the bulk of the pitching for the Lions, being the starter and pitching a total of 107 pitches. Folger was able to throw 7 strikeouts and 4 walks. Based on those statistics alone, it would look like Folger had a better pitching night than Patterson, but it was giving up 5 runs that made the difference in the night. He ended the game with an ERA of 3.71.
As the second game came around, Garrard County sought to get at least one win on the day, but the Rebels proved to be too much. The Rebels would complete the sweep on the day with a 3-2 victory off of a walkoff run.
For the Rebels, their 3 runs were split between three players: Austin Bodner, Cole Jarnigan, and Logan Perry. Kyler Claunch batted one of those players in, as did Logan Perry. Boyle would do these off of 7 hits on the game. Landon Parnass would take the mound in this one, achieving 6 strikes and only one walk in 74 pitches. His ERA for the game was 1.75.
As for Garrard County, their two runs came off of Jaydon Noe and Logan Ballard, with Ballard’s run coming off an RBI from Noe. The Lions would also record 6 hits on the night. As for their pitching, Zacharee Stacy would pitch the entire game for the Lions, getting 6 strikeouts and 1 walk on 99 pitches. After giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, his ERA was sitting around 3.15.
As Andrew Messer had to put it, “It was definitely a challenge to play the two games on the same day…but I think we handled it well.” The Rebels were able to take down Garrard through consistent pitching and a strong batting performance to match, and they hope that it continues throughout the season, as they seek to extend their 10-win streak. They are set to play East Jessamine at home on May 6th, in hopes to do just that!

On Friday, April 18th, the Boyle County Baseball Team took down yet another team in their 12-2 victory over the Somerset Briar Jumpers.
Somerset was the first to score, when Cayman SIzemore hit a single and two runners crossed the plate. But for Somerset, that would be the only points they would score for the entire game, as Boyle quickly responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The scoring continued, with runs, walks, and errors paving the way for more points on the scoreboard for the Rebels. One of those scores came off a solo home run by Ethan Milburn in center field.
On the defensive side of the field, the Rebels right-handed pitcher, Kyer Claunch, sealed the win, with only two runs given up in 5 innings. Later, Emmit Grubbs subbed in for him, and gave up no runs, keeping Somerset at 2 points.
With more games this year, the Rebels hope to keep up their pace and keep the dominant wins coming. Andrew Messer, outfielder for the Rebels, put the game into perspective, he says, “We hit pretty well, and we didn’t make a lot of mistakes. It was overall a good game.” Playoffs start May 19th, and the Rebels maintain an undefeated record in their district. If the Rebels keep having games like this one, they’re looking pretty good in the state playoff picture.
