On Friday, December 5th, the Boyle County Rebels defeated the Franklin County Flyers in a 34-0 4A state championship win.
On the first drive, the Rebels marched 65-yards down the field and ended with a 1-yard rushing touchdown from Seneca Driver to put the Rebels up 7-0. On 4th down, deep in Flyer territory, the Rebels trick Franklin with a fake field goal pass from Baylor Murphy to Seneca Driver to make the score 14-0 at halftime. With 6:32 in the 3rd, Seneca Driver forces his way through the Flyers defense with a 6-yard rushing touchdown to continue the Rebels score streak. This was Seneca Drivers 3rd touchdown of the night and put the Rebels up 21-0. 4-minutes into the 4th quarter, Ji’dyn Smith breaks out with a 23-yard rushing touchdown, Rebels up 28-0. The last score of the game was in the 4th quarter with a 50-yard race to the endzone to end the game 34-0. The rebels defense held strong and didn't allow a single point.
The Boyle County Rebels ended the season with a 14-1 record and wrote their names in the book with the 13th state championship in school history.

On a cold Friday night, Boyle County and Corbin battled for a spot in the state championship, and the game delivered nonstop drama from start to finish.
JiDyn Smith-Hisel set the tone early with a 15-yard touchdown run to put the Rebels up 7–0. Corbin answered quickly, but Smith-Hisel wasted no time responding with another score, giving Boyle a 14–7 lead. Corbin’s offense found its rhythm late in the half and tied the game before the break.
Corbin came out firing in the second half, scoring within five minutes on a run by Cam Estepp to tie things at 21–21. Boyle turned to its playmakers, and Seneca Driver capped off a strong drive with a touchdown to make it 27–21 after a missed PAT.
With four minutes left, Corbin struck back, tying the game 27–27 after Boyle blocked the extra point. The Rebels answered again as Jeht Raleigh connected with Driver for a huge touchdown to make it 34–27. Corbin refused to go away, scoring with little time left, but Boyle came up clutch with another blocked PAT to keep the lead at 34–33.
Boyle tried to run out the clock, but a fumbled snap was recovered by Corbin—until officials ruled the play dead due to an inadvertent whistle, sending the down back. The Rebels then kneeled out the clock to secure a wild, hard-fought win.
Boyle County now advances to the state championship, where they’ll face Franklin County at Kroger Field at 8:00 PM.

The Boyle County Rebels earned a hard-fought 20–13 victory over Frederick Douglass last Friday night on October 31st. This game was powered by balanced offensive attacks and a tough defensive stand.
Sophomore Quarterback Jhet Raleigh led the Rebels offense, throwing for 76 yards and a touchdown while completing 8 of 16 passes. Senior JiDyn Smith-Hisel was dominant on the ground, rushing for 167 yards on 25 carries and punching in two touchdowns. Senior Darryl Yancey added 32 rushing yards, keeping the pressure on the Broncos defense. Raleigh’s top target was Seneca Driver, who hauled in 3 catches for 61 yards and a receiving touchdown.
On special teams, Freshman Grant Klosterman was perfect on extra points, going 2-for-2. Defensively, Boyle County’s front line was relentless. Two skilled Juniors by the name of Lucas Akers and Brayden Borders-Coffman led the team with 9 and 8 total tackles, respectively, while Borders-Coffman also forced a fumble. Yancey made a huge play, recovering a fumble and returning it 52 yards to set up a key score.
The Rebels defense held strong in the final quarter to preserve the win, improving Boyle County’s record as they continued their march toward another postseason run.

The Rebels played at home on October 17th, Lincoln county was the opponent and these Boys sent them home real quick.
Sophomore quarterback Jhet Raleigh led the Rebel offense, completing 10 of 13 passes for 155 yards and four touchdowns, spreading the ball efficiently across multiple receivers. Fellow quarterback Peyton Leffew also contributed, throwing for 45 yards on five completions.
On the ground, Boyle County’s rushing attack proved unstoppable. Brady Thompson paced the team with 76 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Adryn Newell added 26 yards. Senior Bubby McPherson and Sophomore Jhet Raleigh also chipped in with key runs, combining for an additional 27 yards. In total, the Rebels racked up 180 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, while holding Lincoln County to -5 rushing yards on the night — a testament to Boyle’s defensive dominance.
Boyle’s passing game was a balanced effort, with eight different receivers making catches. Seneca Driver led the way with 46 yards on three receptions and a touchdown, followed by Jakeem Ray (37 yards, 1 TD) and Nathaniel Schepman (35 yards, 1 TD). Adryn Newell and Jidyn Smith-Hisel also contributed with key receptions, as Boyle totaled 200 yards through the air and four passing touchdowns overall. The Rebels defense was relentless, limiting Lincoln County to under 100 total yards. Brayden Borders-Coffman led the defense with four total tackles, while John Hockersmith and Jax Crowe each added three.
The front seven continually pressured Lincoln’s backfield, with Grant Holman recording tackles for loss. The unit’s suffocating play resulted in -5 rushing yards allowed, setting the tone for the game early.
The Rebels will take on Wayne County next week at 7:30.

Boyle County took on Russell County in a big-time district matchup, and this one was all Rebels. Quarterback Jet Raleigh led the way with two passing touchdowns and 154 yards through the air. He also showed off his mobility, rushing for 32 yards on just two carries.
Smith-Hisel continued to dominate on the ground with 61 rushing yards, while Yancey added a touchdown of his own. The offense put on a show, scoring 43 points, while the defense completely shut down Russell County, allowing zero.
Linebacker Akers had a career night with 15 tackles and three tackles for loss. After the game, Akers said, “I just got in the flow and played really hard.” And if you’ve ever been in the zone in any sport, you know that’s when your best play comes out.
The Rebels will be back in action next Friday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, October 3rd, the Boyle County football team took down the St. X Tigers in a dominant defensive 14-3 win.
The Rebels started off hot with a fumble recovery by Darryl Yancy that led to a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Ji’dyn Smith. The second quarter was a defensive battle with 0 points scored by either team. In the 3rd quarter St. X scored a field goal to cut the lead down to 4. Boyle County marched 70 yards down the field and ended their drive with a 15-yard run to the endzone by Jhet Raleigh which led to the final score of 14-3.
Boyle County’s defense held strong in the 4th quarter ending St. X’s 57 game touchdown streak since a playoff loss against Trinity in 2020.
Boyle County will be hitting the road next week, heading to the Russell County on October 10th.

On Friday, September 26th, the Boyle County Rebels traveled to Ballard on their home field and made sure to make a statement against the Ballard Bruins.
The first quarter was a defensive showdown with no points between both teams. Jax Crowe seemed to be the star of the 2nd quarter with a big sack and a touchdown. After halftime, the game started off slow, but halfway through the 3rd quarter; running back Jakain Logan completed a big trick play pass to Seneca Driver to put the Rebels in the endzone. This big play led to a 4-yard touchdown pass by Jhet Raleigh to Seneca Driver making the lead 14-0.
Boyle county then recovered a fumble on Ballard's 32-yard line. With 3 minutes left, Jhet Raleigh completed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Bubby McPherson to make it 21-0. Ballard answered back with a 32-yard touchdown and a successful PAT to cut Boyle's lead down to 14. Jhet Raleigh soared past Ballard's defense with a 48-yard rushing touchdown to start off the fourth and final quarter. With 9 minutes to go, Ballard scored a 32-yard touchdown through the air, making the score 28-14. With 1 minute left in the 4th quarter, Jhet Raleigh sealed the game with a 2-yard rushing touchdown. After a successful PAT, the Rebels win 35-14, adding one more win bringing their record to 4-1.

On September 12, the Boyle County Rebels took down the Highlands Bluebirds as the KSR Game of the Week. The game started fast when Seneca Driver grabbed an interception, but Highlands defense held tough and their offense went on a long drive to score first, 6-0. Boyle fired back when JiDyn Smith-Hisel broke loose for a 72-yard touchdown run to make it 7-6.
With 5:28 left in the first half, Highlands scored again to go up 13-7, but Driver caught a touchdown pass to give Boyle a 14-13 lead at halftime. Highlands came out strong after the break and went ahead 20-14, but Smith-Hisel answered with his second touchdown of the night to put Boyle back on top 21-20. A bold fourth-down call at their own 38-yard line helped the Rebels hang on for the win.
The Rebels have a bye week this Friday. Make sure to stay tuned for next week's Boyle vs Ballard game at Ballard!

On September 5th at 7:30, the Boyle County Rebels traveled to Lexington Catholic. The Rebels offense had a tough time in the first half and couldn’t get into the end zone. Lex Cath's defense made a big play with a strip-sack touchdown, helping them take a 17-0 lead at halftime.
Boyle came out stronger in the second half. Smith broke off a big run that set up a 14-yard touchdown pass to Logan, cutting the score to 17-7. That ended up being all the scoring for the night. Boyle’s defense locked in after halftime, but Lex Cath’s defense held just as firm, keeping Boyle from closing the gap.
The Rebels fell 17-7 and will look to bounce back next week when they host Highlands at the Rebel Stadium.

On August 30, the Rebels faced the LCA Eagles in the Rebel Bowl. Boyle came out on fire, putting up 21 unanswered points in the first half to take a 21–0 lead at the break.
But after halftime, LCA flipped the script and matched the Rebels with 21 straight points of their own to tie up the game. This was a hard fought game by the rebels and remained even until about four minutes left. When a senior, Darryl Yancy powered in from the one-yard line to put Boyle back on top 28–21. The Rebel defense held strong the rest of the way, sealing the 28–21 win. Next up, the Rebels travel to Lexington Catholic next Friday at 7:30.

On Saturday night at 5:00, the Boyle County Rebels faced off against the Bullitt East Chargers in the Rafferty Bowl — and it was pure domination. The Rebels controlled both sides of the ball from start to finish.
Defensively, Boyle County shut down the Chargers’ offense, only giving up 7 points the entire game. Brayden Borders-Coffman led the team with 6 tackles, including 4 solos. On offense, Baylor Murphy had a huge night, going 15/21 for 307 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Jakeem Ray also came up big, catching 2 passes for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Rebels came out firing. After forcing a quick three-and-out, Baylor Murphy connected with Seneca Driver on the very first offensive play of the season for a 52-yard touchdown. From there, the offense never looked back, putting up 50 points while the defense continued to dominate.
Next up, the Rebels will take on the LCA Eagles in the Rebel Bowl this Saturday at 8:00 pm.

On Friday, the Rebels took on Covington Catholic in the third round of the 4A State Tournament.
This was a rematch of the state championship from last season, which Boyle County won 41-0. However, this game turned out to be much closer.
Boyle County started with the ball and was driving down the field. But that ended with a fumble off of a big run by Tavi Quisenberry.
The Colonels recovered the ball and went on to score a touchdown. On the next drive for Boyle County, Baylor Murphy found Seneca Driver in the endzone as the first quarter expired.
The score at the beginning of the second quarter was 7-6 due to a missed extra point by the Rebels. Covington Catholic then drove down the field slowly and scored a second touchdown. At the end of the first half, the score was 14-6 in favor of the Colonels.
To start the second half, the Rebels got a stop on defense, and then Quisenberry ran in an incredible 39 yard touchdown. Boyle County went for the two point conversion and was able to tie the game at 14. When the Colonels got the ball back, their quarterback found a receiver over the middle for an 80 yard touchdown.
On the ensuing kickoff, Quisenberry took it off the bounce and returned it for another touchdown. The third quarter ended 21-21.
The fourth quarter began with a made field goal by Covington Catholic, making the score 24-21. Boyle County responded once more with another great Quisenberry run from 46 yards out. Boyle finally took the lead at 28-24. However, the lead didn’t hold for long as the Colonels methodically drove down the field and got into the endzone. The score ended 31-28 in favor of Covington Catholic.
This ended a historic season for Boyle County. The Rebels went 12-1 and put themselves on the national map.

On Friday, the football team took on Letcher County Central in the second round of the 4A State Playoffs.
To start the game, the Rebels did not get off to the hot start they were looking for. The opening two drives for the Rebels ended on back to back failed 4th down conversions. But, Boyle County was able to get on board off of a long Tavi Quisenberry touchdown. A few minutes later, Quisenberry found the endzone for the second time of the night. At the end of the first quarter, Boyle County was leading 13-0.
In the second quarter, Letcher County Central was the first team to score. They found the endzone with 8:38 left in the first half. The Rebels responded with a Mari Brown rushing touchdown, pushing the score to 20-7. Seneca Driver then got into the scoring action, dragging a defender into the endzone to make the score 27-6.
Also in the second quarter, Brown added two more rushing
touchdowns. The score going into the halftime break was 41-6.
The second half was not full of scoring from either side. The lone touchdown of the entire half was a Maddox Hager receiving touchdown.
The game finished 47-6 in favor of the Rebels. Boyle County will be taking on Covington Catholic in the 3rd round of the 4A State Playoffs this Friday! This is a rematch of the state championship from last season, which the Rebels won 41-0.

On Friday, the football team played Perry County Central in the first round of the 4A State Tournament.
The Rebels came into the game as heavy favorites, boasting an impressive 10-0 record. The Commodores were 4-6 before the game.
The game started out extremely well for Boyle County. Mari Brown ran in a touchdown early in the first quarter, and then was followed up by a Syia Richards interception. Off the interception, Mari Brown got into the endzone for a second time and made the score 14-0.
The third touchdown of the game was off of a punt return by senior Austin Bodner. Tavi Quisenberry then got into the scoring action with a 60 yard run into the endzone. The score at this point was 28-0 and there was 6:41 remaining in the first quarter. Then, Seneca Driver got a touchdown to make it a 35 point lead. To cap off the first quarter, Bubby McPherson returned a punt to make the score 42-0.
The second quarter was a lot less busy and only one touchdown was scored. Lyndon Smith was the lone scorer for the Rebels and the touchdown came with 6:23 left in the first half.
There was no scoring in the third quarter, but in the fourth quarter JiDyn Smith-Hisel made his way into the endzone.
The final score was Boyle County 57, Perry County Central 0. This was a big win for the Rebels, who will play Letcher County Central on the 15th in the second round of the state tournament.

On Friday November 1st, the football team took on the Frederick Douglass Broncos in the final game of the season. This game held a lot of meaning to both sides, especially with RPI and playoff seeding. The Broncos were coming into the game 6-3, and the Rebels were 9-0.
Boyle County started the game on offense and drove all the way down to the Broncos’ 1 yard line before having to settle for an Andrew Carr field goal. On defense, the Rebels held Frederick Douglass to a 3 and out and quickly got the ball back. The Rebels then went down the field, and Tavi Quisenberry got into the endzone.
In the second quarter, the Broncos were able to get on the board with a touchdown. But as the first half came to a close, Seneca Driver ended up with the football on the goal line and found his way into the endzone. This gave the Rebels a 17-7 lead going into halftime.
The third quarter was full of scoring from both sides. For the Rebels, Mari Brown broke off a 46 yard run into the endzone. Frederick Douglass answered with a field goal, making the score 24-10. Then, Gage Feltner scored a touchdown from a few yards out. Right before the quarter’s end, Frederick Douglass was able to put 7 more points up on the board. Going into the fourth quarter, Boyle County was leading 31-17.
In the fourth quarter, the only scoring was a Tavi Quisenberry passing touchdown to Lyndon Smith. The Rebels went on to win the game 38-17.
Andrew Carr (kicker) went 5 for 5 on XP’s, 1-1 on FG’s, and even had a successful onside kick. When asked about Frederick Douglass, he said “They were a really skilled team. It’s nice to play a team like that before the playoffs to get us ready.”
The Rebels ended the regular season 10-0, and now will turn their focus onto Perry County Central. That game will be on Friday the 8th at 7 PM.

On October 25th, the football team traveled to Monticello to take on the Wayne County Cardinals.
Coming into the game, the Rebels were 8-0, while Wayne County was 7-1. Boyle County started out hot, with Lyndon Smith stripping the ball out of the Wayne County returners hands on the opening kickoff. Boyle proceeded to recover the fumble, taking over in Cardinal territory.
After that it was all Boyle County. Tavi Quisenberry opened the scoring with a receiving touchdown on the first play of the game. Quisenberry went on to score a second touchdown soon after his first, which extended the Rebels lead to 14-0.
Demauriah Brown joined Quisenberry in the two touchdowns club, by powering through the heart of the defense and using his speed to sprint into the endzone.
Gage Feltner also had a touchdown in the first half, making the score going into the break 35-0.
In the second half Lyndon Smith, Nathaniel Schepman, and Micager Peyton found their way into the endzone.
Going into the game Coach Haddix said “We need to focus on what we do and play Rebel football.” That they did, as the Rebels stormed to a 55-0 win.
The next game for the Rebels will be senior night against Frederick Douglass, which will take place November 1st.

On Friday, the football team traveled to Stanford to take on the Lincoln County Patriots. The Rebels came into the game 7-0, a very impressive undefeated record. Lincoln County (4-3) had been having a successful season, but were on a 3 game losing streak.
Boyle County did not take the Patriots lightly, and came out firing on all cylinders. Mari Brown and Tavi Quisenberry (who recently flipped his commitment from West Virginia to Kentucky) were the stars of the show. Both had two total touchdowns early, giving the Rebels a controlling lead before halftime. Austin Bodner joined them in the scoring, grabbing a receiving touchdown in the second quarter. The score going into the halftime break was 35-0.
After halftime the Rebels put in a lot of their younger players, not wanting to needlessly get one of the stars injured. In the second half, Jidyn Smith-Hisel was the lone touchdown scorer for the Rebels, extending the lead to 41-0.
Kicker Andrew Carr (who went 5 for 5 on extra points) said, “We respected them as a team, and knew we had to come out and execute.” Execute they did. The Rebels ended up winning the game 41-0, making their record 8-0.
The next game for the Rebels is at Wayne County on Friday, October 25th.
