I thought it might be nice to share a handful of Online Art Lessons and resources. I can’t claim that all of the content is a “perfect fit” for each of you - there may be some things that are too challenging or more appropriate for older students - but I’ve tried to select a handful for you and your family to explore. Use your best judgement when surfing the internet! Most of all, be safe and HAVE FUN!!
"Click" on each Title to begin your online adventure!!
Steve visited our Elementary school quite a while ago now, and students drew with him while sitting in the gymnasium. It was INCREDIBLE . . every student was drawing while Steve talked and drew, and you could have heard a pin drop!! Aside from the “business” side of his website, you can watch (and draw along with) his “Videos” . . he’s got lots!!
You can also follow this link to his "YouTube" channel - - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHRHILY0t3i5VvKEeFMoJxw
Sparketh is a pretty slick website that features a group of artist videos teaching students all sorts of styles and techniques. You have to set up a “30-Day Free” account before you can watch anything, but it might be worth the effort if you have good internet and REALLY want to learn some new things!?
One of our 1st grade artists painted a Week #1 “Nature Painting” by gathering her paint materials and painting along with one of Denyse Lipka Carbonell’s ‘Painting Parties’ live on Facebook. I’m sharing the YouTube pre-recorded versions with you. THANKS to the Shafer’s for sharing with me!!
That last online assortment of painting videos made me think back to my own ‘long lost’ days - growing up watching Bob Ross on television. I don’t remember ever picking up a brush and following along with him, but a lot of what he teaches has ‘stuck’ with me and comes in handy years later . . and, if you’ve NEVER watched Bob Ross before, you’re missing out!
He’s one “cool cat”!!
This site looks and feels like a virtual “How To Draw” book. If you enjoy learning to draw step-by-step, then this website might be worth checking out. You will find lots of cartoon characters to choose from - click around! There is even an online drawing program you can use, if you are working on a computer, etc. that can run Flash programs.
This crafsty, 'how-to-draw' site was actually hiding on the "For Students" page!! After doing a little Spring Cleaning, I thought I would also add it here. Once you arrive at the site you will see a list of "How To" videos that you can follow along with (via their YouTube channel). If you scroll down you can click on "Learn Magic Tricks" - which brings up a whole new set of videos . . if you are interested?! Click on the tab at the top of the page - "Topics and Activities" - and you will find a TON of interesting, educational things for school-aged kids to explore (adults are welcome too!!)
Another 'how-to-draw' website once hiding on the "For Students" page:) This one is pretty straightforward - click on whatever subject you would like to draw, and you can either watch the "How To" video, OR keep on scrolling down the page and follow along, one picture at a time!
I will continue to add more content as I find it! Feel free to email me if you have something to share!!
