Student EXTRAS!

This page is for YOU, my dear Art students!!  For starters, I'll try to add some Art Websites that you might find interesting:)  PLEASE remember to use the Internet RESPONSIBLY!  That means:

(some sites require a Flash plug-in, and/or may not work on every device)

Steve Harpster and "Harptoons" - Mr. Harpster visited our school a handful of years ago, and the reception was Incredible!!  It's no easy task to have 300 students seated with pencil and paper, totally engaged in learning '..how to draw', but his methods of using NUMBERS and LETTERS to begin the process is very intuitive for young artists.  Once at his site, click on his collection of "Drawing Videos" at the top . . and have fun!!

You can also follow this link to his "YouTube" channel -https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHRHILY0t3i5VvKEeFMoJxw

This Is Sand - This fun and interesting site is quite simple . . just start 'clicking' and fill the page with virtual sand!  Relax and have fun!!!

Snowdays - Quite a while ago (back in the days of FLASH programming) there was a fun online game called "Make A Flake" . . FUN!!  This website doesn't have quite the same PIZZAZZ to it, but it might be worth a "Go", if you're in the mood for VIRTUAL SNOWFLAKES!

Origami Club - A GREAT learning resource for those interested in folding paper!!

YouTube Origami - For ADVANCED folders . . a really, really wonderful tutorial site by Origami artist Jo Nakashima!  Tons of sweet things to fold - grab your paper and get those fingers folding!!!

National Gallery of Art - Filled with all sorts of activities, the "Art Zone" is a creative website for those looking to fill some free time with artistic goodness:)  This link now takes you to a page advertising their New App . . which you will have to download to use:(

Canon’s Creative Papercraft - A more advanced website for those looking for some unique, printable crafts.  Adult help recommended:)

Sumo Paint Lite - A new site here . . a somewhat advanced site to 'try' out.  Has the feeling of Photoshop style programs.

https://sumopaint.sumo.app/?lang=en

Ball Droppings - A simple, addictive little site . . as the teeny white dots fall down, click and drag lines for them to 'ping' off of!?!  It's an 'experimental' project, so it's prone to CRASHING every now and again.

Vectorpark - I found this somewhat quirky website quite a while ago - one from the early days of my web pages!  It's really a strange, clickable adventure - so grab your mouse and see where it takes you!  This site started moving towards IPad friendly apps since I first found them (downloadable and $$), but you can still 'click' around on some of the 'games' here for free:)

Keith Haring for Kids - I've yet to do an Elementary Art lesson focusing on American Artist Keith Haring . . no reason why other than I just haven't got to him yet (regrettably!).  This website allows student artists to explore Haring's playful, cartoony style via the "COLORING BOOK" application.  Pretty cool stuff!

http://www.haringkids.com/

Aminah's World - I thankfully HAVE shared Columbus Ohio's artist, Aminah Robinson with students:)  This new-ish site (an off-shoot from the Columbus Museum of Art) let's you learn more about Aminah and her work, and even let's you virtually create art like she does!  Click around!!

http://aminahsworld.org/

Met Kids - The Metropolitan Museum of Art's interactive website, where visitors are able to browse the museum's collection, watch all sorts of creative videos, and even travel through Art History in their 'time machine'!  Please keep in mind that by visiting you may be viewing 'Art Museum' type imagery . . parental guidance is suggested:)

Inspirograph - If you like revisiting 'old school' ideas in a new way, check out this online version of good ole Spirograph (ask your parents . . or Grandparents about it!?!)  It's a fun way to explore Art, Math, and Design!!

Weavesilk - A REALLY cool 'drag and draw' page that looks like the drawings of the future!?  Mine always end up looking a bit "bug-like"??  Try it out and see what you think:)

http://weavesilk.com/

Cartoonify - A not so bad little program to try and make a cartoon picture of YOU, or someone you know.  BEWARE of the 'pop-ups' and the opportunities to click off of the page and end up someplace unexpected:(

https://www.cartoonify.de/

Jackson Pollock - A simple, fun page that lets you paint like American Abstract Expressionist Jackson Pollock.  Start by moving your cursor/mouse to paint . . and 'click' to change colors!!  The site is a little quirky, and may not work in every browser or device:(

http://www.jacksonpollock.org/

Scrap Coloring - This site shares a different approach to the 'click and fill' paint page, using LOTS of patterns to color with.  You can print/share your creation, and even get it printed on products if you desire! Mostly, it's pretty relaxing and fun!

http://scrapcoloring.com/

Toy Theater - Filled with TONS of activities to try (mostly "Doodle" pages where you scribble on a picture).  There are some neat Art activities to fill your time with, as well as links to other subject areas.

Neo K 1 2 - A small site that has a few 'How to Draw..' videos.  Also has some Magic videos, for those interested in Tricks!!

https://www.neok12.com/Arts-and-Crafts.htm

Art Maker - Good ole Sesame Street!!  This site lets you 'make' all kinds of pictures by adding to pre-existing ones . . ducks, trucks, Cookie Monsters!  The Pizza is DELICIOUSLY fun!!

https://www.sesamestreet.org/art-maker

Easy Drawing Guides - A REALLY great site for anyone interested in "How to Draw".  The presentation is pretty cool . . choose to follow a step-by-step video, or scroll further down for the traditional 'picture-by-picture'.  Lots of choices for you!!
