GEL PENS
Ahhhhh . . GEL PENS!!
Always an Art Room favorite, Gel Pens were invented in Japan, and became available in the United States in the 1980's. Like most other Art materials, there are HUNDREDS of uses for Gel Pens, but they are mostly used for DETAILED Writing and Illustrating/Drawing.
TECHNIQUES (tek - neeks)
Gel Pens should be used SOMETIMES, but not EVERY time! They are GREAT for small Colorful Lines and DETAILS, but they are probably not the best choice when it comes to coloring LARGE AREAS. The "hair thin" lines that they make take a long time to fill in such a big Space . . better to choose a different material!

Gel Pens on BLACK
Gel Pens absolutely SHINE on Dark Colored Paper, especially BLACK!! The special INK inside is made to really "Pop" off of a dark background. Find a Black or Dark colored piece of paper, and CREATE a DRAWING that really "Sparkles and Shines"!

Coloring Sheets
Sometimes you just can't seem to figure out What To Draw!? That's O.K . . give yourself a break and find one of the printed COLORING SHEETS in the back of the Art room. Then grab some GEL PENS, and COLOR away!
..or better yet, Design your OWN "Coloring Sheet", make some COPIES, and share them with friends!!

Messing With Colors
The cool thing about Gel Pens is that you can really get some INTENSE COLOR from them! ..and the cool thing about being an ARTIST, is that you can choose any Colors you'd like when making an Artwork. CREATE a drawing of something we all recognize, but MESS with the COLORS by choosing something different and surprising.

"DOODLES"
Almost any type of Ball Point Pen like a Gel Pen is GREAT for "Doodling" . . grabbing a scrap piece of paper and just letting it 'wander' around the page. SOMETHING will begin to happen . . exactly "WHAT?" is the question! Grab some colorful Gel Pens and begin to CREATE a "Doodle Drawing" . . see where it takes you!!
