Executive Summary:
Initially, Donethal was previously overwhelmed by the surplus of immigration from Kurgan, however, they reluctantly let them in. Good thing they did, the Kurgan Refugee Sector has made Donethal huge profits while laboring in the Holy Oil Lands. Letting the Kurgan pilgrims in was very risky as they do not share the same faith and Donethal’s whole country is based off the Zemia faith; it was hard to know if eventually the Kurgan’s were going to try to overthrow the government because of the different belief system, however, the Kurgan’s and Donethalians ended up working out really well together. Many of the Kurgan’s even converted to the Zemia faith.
Description of The Problem:
The people of Donethal have a surplus of materials and energy, however lack food production for the chosen ones and the citizens of Donethal. Donethal does not have enough farm workers to produce enough and distribute fast enough causing Donethal to have to trade materials and energy that we could to better our nation for food from our sister and ally nations.
Proposed Policy:
The Donethalian’s have worked very well with the Kurgan pilgrims and have had nothing but benefits from them. The pilgrims have made Donethal lots of money working in our oil industry. We have a food shortage in Donethal, we do not have enough citizens to devote to our Holy Taro Farms to feed the Chosen Ones. The proposal is to open our border gates and allow more pilgrims from Kurgan into Donethal to work in the Holy Taro Farms. Other nations claim that immigration is essential to their seed to plate, “Demand for low-wage workers in the rural food production industries has shifted from domestic/local to global/ migrant labour” (Rye, Johan Fredrik and Scott, n.d.). The recruitment of migrant workers is far from uniform, other countries that practiced this first still appear to be benefiting from the large0scale migrant worker employment (Rye, Johan Fredrik and Scott, n.d.). This policy proposal is controversial because The Holy Taro Farms are located on the sacred location of the Holy Taro Lands, this is where the main food production and distribution is. It is risky to allow pilgrims of a different faith than the Zemia religion into such sacred land, however, we have no reason to believe that the Kurgan’s are going to cross us and disrespect our Zemia faith on our sacred land. The land is also highly monitored by holy officials which can keep a close eye on our new Kurgan Pilgrims we (might) let in. Allowing more immigration into our land and allowing them to work in our farms can possibly prevent us from having to trade our valuable resources such as, materials and energy, which we can use a surplus of to improvise and industrialize our own nation of Donethal. If this is too risky, although the Holy Taro Lands is where the main food production occurs, we can start the new pilgrims off in a smaller producing farm to see if it begins to make more profit and then eventually bring more into our Holy Taro Farms. This also gives Donethal the opportunity to spread our faith and religious teachings to more pilgrims as the the majority of the last group we let in embraced the Zemia faith so well. However, we will respect the faith of their choosing to avoid any unwanted/ unneeded domestic issues in Donethal.
Conclusion and Connection to the Ideology:
Overall, immigrant workers are very productive and are a very versatile and adaptable labor force, the nation of Donethal can really use more pilgrims to our benefit and help up our food supply in order to most importantly feed our chosen ones and feed our citizens. We can also spread knowledge on the Zemia faith, the basis of our nation, in attempts to gain more active members of our religion.
