Portions of Redento (known in Dacca and Donethal as the Disputed Territories) are claimed by Dacca and Donethal. After Cavan won its independence 20 years ago, the remaining population began referring to themselves as Redentore and—though internally split in ethnicity and culture—sought a collective ‘redemption’ from the two imperialist powers.
Redentorians do not accept cease-fire terms established by Cavan which included Donethal’s free passage to a sacred site within the territory. Instead, Redentores continue to fight for autonomy over the territories.
Each country claims that parts of the disputed territories belong to their nation. Repeated cross border skirmishes over the decades has blurred the original territory borders. Each considers the Holy City central to their predominant faiths: Donethal’s ruling Zemani and Dacca’s Tempran majority.
Besides the Holy City, the territory is mountainous and is of little strategic value. Natural resources have not been sufficiently assessed because of local tribes’ disruptions of scientific surveys. The only known natural resource of value are the phosphorous mines in the northwest, one of the sole sources for the key fertilizer mineral.
Repeated skirmishes have inflicted much property damage and claimed many lives with no gain for any country.
The disputed territory population has armed itself and is beginning to fight back – launching missiles across the territory border impacting local Dacca, Cavan and Donethal nearby towns.
Some Cavanians support the rebels while others are concerned about Redentore rebels traversing through their land to the southern to launch attacks.
What to do? Put a multinational team of UN peacekeepers in the territories? Declare the territories a sovereign nation in Zemia? Annex parts of the territories to Dacca and/or Donethal? Draw new borders and dissolve the disputed territories?
The general objective, available points, and specific objectives for each nation/group are shown in the table below:
