"For the good of the country"
General Facts:
Aricha is the historical capital of this maritime power and Bogora is the commerce center, due to proximity to the Central Commerce Canal.
For centuries, the former Kingdom of Dacca combated internal uprisings in its western region and border disputes with Donethal. Faced with a populist-supported military coup, Dacca royalty conceded to democratic elections fifty years ago and was renamed the Republic of Dacca.
Western region uprisings continue to fight against the religious and cultural restrictions that were central to Daccanian culture. Cavan seceded and established its own libertarian nation.
Donethal and Redento’s conflicting claims against Dacca for the Disputed Territories continue through overt diplomatic means and covert military ones.
Over half of Daccans follow the Tempran faith, the 2nd largest Zemian religion, which plays a large role in their lives.
Maize Industrial is a largely developed industrial region populated heavily by factories and the bulk of the Daccan workforce.
This region is covered with corn farms that are the most productive in Zemia. The hybrid corn, MaizO, depends upon a special phosphorus fertilizer mined only in the Disputed Territories.
Maize Industrial is also home to a powerful military industrial complex, which builds a wide range of weaponry for consumer and government purchase. The massive agricultural and manufacturing bases of this region make it one of the most politically powerful ones in Dacca.
The Salt Coast is a humble region characterized largely by salt evaporation and being the export/import center of the region. There is a large harbor here that is useful for both mass inter-government trading and corporate business.
Some of the towns in this region also rely heavily on the coast for fishing and other sea-side industry.
This nearly forgotten region used to be a major export center before the Central Commerce Canal was built. While the southern port provides economical access to the world, the harbor is clearly in decline.
The Maize Plains are home to a massive central plains covered with farms and energy plants, many of which export power to the Disputed Territories (self-proclaimed as Redento).
The agribusiness flourishes here and stretches across the center of Dacca.
Dacca’s leadership in botanical innovations makes this region one of the most productive in Zemia. Patented seeds, massive automated irrigation, and the most advanced unmanned cultivation practices have transformed a previously labor-heavy industry to an industry with the highest employee:profit ratio.
Occasionally, the interests of the coal power production and the corn agribusiness clash, but together these industry giants fuel production in Dacca.
Most of the Daccan population lives either here or in the Canal Zone. The Maize Plains is also characterized by wildly erratic weather, including tornados, hurricanes, tropical storms, and extreme humidity. This occasionally disrupts the corn production.
Nearly every home and building built in this region has a sizeable and well-stocked shelter.
The Canal Zone is the heart of Dacca’s trade, finance, and political power.
This region is characterized by the wealthier class of the nation, policy makers and wealthy investors often live here.
The trade on the Central Commerce Canal propelled Dacca into Zemia’s economic elite.
Wealthy businesses set up headquarters here, the political capital and seat of government is based here, and there is also a significant investment in salt mines in this area.
Despite the patrolling efforts of Dacca’s official Merchant Marines, vessels on the Commerce Canal are regularly raided by pirates. This has given rise to an unofficial Commerce Militia Guard that also patrols the Canal
Businesses deny ties to the CMG whose tactics have also threatened and, at times, damaged other nations’ vessels.
