Absolute monarchy (Khulna): An absolute monarchy is ruled by a monarch who has absolute power. The citizens and elites cannot overrule the monarch (e.g., a veto, or election of new monarch). The monarch makes decrees (laws) that are enforced by the military. In theory, the monarch could choose to enable significant freedoms for individuals, but never so much that it interferes with the monarch’s power.
Indigenous Peoples Council (IPC): This non-governmental organization (NGO) is not a state but a collection of leaders from tribes across Zemia. The NGO can be structured in a variety of ways: require consensus, include certain number of representative from each tribe, advocate policies that conform to or reject the policies of certain host nations (i.e., the nation in which a tribe resides), etc. Ideology can also vary (e.g., emphasis on cultural integrity, assimiliation,
Libertarian State (Cavan): Libertarians advocate individual freedom and very limited government. Some extreme libertarians (libertarian anarchists) argue for only a national defense and no other laws, taxes, etc. In general, libertarians will be opposed to government bureaucracies and the taxes needed to support it.
Oligarchy (Kurgan): Rule by an elite few and in service to their interests (as opposed to ‘in service to public’s interests’). The elite can be based on wealth or another attribute (e.g., expertise, etc.). While the oligarchs do not need to be horrible to their citizens, they rule to preserve their own (possibly varying) perspectives.
Neoconservative democracy (Dacca): A representative democracy (aka republic, technically) whose leaders follow the neoconservative ideology (e.g., US under Pres. George W. Bush). Neoconservatives advocate limited government interference in the market, active/aggressive foreign policy to protect national interests, unilateral foreign action (as opposed to UN-sponsored), and ‘traditional cultural/family values.’
Pure democracy (Orissa): A pure democracy is similar to Athens’ democracy. There are no political representatives in the legislative branch, just citizens voting on laws. There can be executives who enact the laws, but they should be responsive to the public will.
Separatist group (Redento): The separatist group is primarily seeking its own statehood but is otherwise untethered to a particular ideology now. The area has been the site of land claims by both Dacca and Donethal. Historically, the area has been controlled by warlords and has different regions with their own cultures, but the new group can adjust the structure so that the regional leaders are not warlords.
Social democracy (Amuria): A social democracy is a representative democracy that values social equality. Elections are held and individual consent to government is important. Typically, the citizenry share a concern for social equality and empower the government to enact policies to promote it. Sometimes, social democracies include the public control of certain utilities or other public goods (e.g., railroads, energy distribution, etc.)
Socialist state (Prenza): In general, the socialist state will include the (total or partial) public control of the means of production. That is, the profit-making function of businesses (all or some) will be controlled by a public collection of individuals: the state government, a local govt, a business owned by employees with democratic control, etc.). This is a general ideology, but the regime type can vary in factors, such as centralized control (state) or decentralized control (individual businesses), and approach to democratic elections.
Theocracy (Donethal): A theocracy is a government controlled by a particular religious group. The religion can vary as can the location of control (centralized vs decentralized).
