September may be the best time of year for high schools. The combination of fall activities and autumn weather supports engagement and creates a great mindset within our students. You can feel it in our buildings as we kick off a new school year students have settled in to all of the new opportunities they have at AHS.

We're excited to invite everyone to our upcoming events and to celebrate our school community together!

Hawkfest: Unfortunately, due to impending weather, Hawkfest was canceled for this evening. Our student DECA group is working on options and we'll reconnect with the community with details soon!

Homecoming Celebration Week! Homecoming is packed with spirit, culminating in our traditional Friday parade, big game, and Saturday dance.

Parade: Friday, October 2nd at 4:30 PM. Starting on Church Street, moves through downtown on Capitol Ave, and travels north on North Avenue. Expect loads of candy!
PTO Food Truck Tailgate: No need to plan dinner! Just outside of our South campus doors, the AHS PTO is hosting SEVEN different food truck vendors for your enjoyment! Come join in great food and a great atmosphere before the game!
Football Game: Friday, October 2nd at 7:00pm. Come out to showcase and support our incredible, currently undefeated, defending state champion football team, marching band, and Hawkettes!
Homecoming Dance: Saturday, October 3rd starting at 7:30pm in our AHS North building.

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences (In-Person): Thursday, October 15th at both campuses from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

Homecoming Dance Ticket Sales will begin on Monday, September 21. Tickets may be purchased ONLINE ONLY through Vanco. If it would be difficult for you to cover the ticket cost, please email morgan@arrowheadschools.org.

Ticket Sales: Will run Monday, September 21 - Saturday, October 3rd @ 8:30 pm
- Tickets will cost $20 + Vanco processing fee
- The link can also be found on the Arrowhead Homepage and will also be sent via email to students. https://www.vancoevents.com/us/DWRA The link and QR code to purchase tickets will go live at 12:01 AM on September 21.
- Anyone bringing a guest from another school must have a signed Guest Form turned in by 2:45 pm on Friday, October 2nd. You may print a form from the link or find them at the Greeter’s desks at both campuses

Dress-Up Days

We want to see lots of participation in the Dress-Up days this year! Participation will be tracked in Red Day 2nd Hour Classes & Blue Day 6th Hour Classes! The TOP Red Day class and TOP Blue Day class at each campus with the highest percentage participation will receive donuts on October 7th (Blue Day) & October 8th (Red Day) and be announced at the Pep Rally!

The RIO Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 3rd from 7:30-10:30 pm. Please review all dance rules below:

DANCE RULES

If a student is bringing a guest from another school, they must have a guest form completed and turned into either office by 2:45 pm on Friday, October 2nd.
At the dance, students need their ticket on their phone and student ID to enter.
You may want to have a screenshot of your ticket on your phone in case wifi isn’t working properly.
Non-Arrowhead guests must also present a School ID (photo ID for those already graduated).
No stilettos will be allowed on the gym floor.
There will be a mandatory, free coat check monitored by adults in the commons area.
Students may access their things from the coat check once throughout the dance.
Doors will lock at 8:30 PM. No one will be allowed to enter after that time.
Students will not be permitted to leave the dance before 9:00 PM.
Random Preliminary Breath Testing (PBT) will occur for students prior to entering the dance.

HOMECOMING DANCE PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in need of parent volunteers to work the entrance and coat check at this year's homecoming dance on Saturday, October 3 from 7:10 PM to 10:40 PM. The coat check allows students to keep their belongings safe while they attend the dance. If you are able to volunteer, please submit your information on this FORM. Welcome to one of the ongoing challenges of AHS! Last year's adjustments and structures created the most efficient morning traffic flow we've had in decades. If all families can support the image below, it makes for the safest and quickest drop-off experience for everyone!

Please only drop off in the green identified areas
Have students walk to the furthest north crosswalk identified in yellow on the map.
Pull all the way forward. Pulling forward allows multiple cars to drop-off and clear out at the same time. Please do not stop short or by the X's on the image as that creates unnecessary backups!
Ensure your student is ready to exit your car when you stop. Keep backpacks
The blue lines should be passthrough only lines watching for students crossing. These are not drop-off locations.

Finally, please proceed cautiously at all times! We have hundreds of students crossing our drives. Please help us in keeping our students safe!

Reminder to all of our students and families!!! This year, our school day will run from 7:15 AM-2:40 PM. This new schedule allows for more Resource time, more minutes of instruction prior to state and AP testing, and an earlier release for all students in June! AHS Counseling Department Update

Starting in the 2026-27 school year, our five counselors are moving to a new service model where they will stay with their students throughout their entire high school career. We look forward to the benefits that will come from having the same counselor for all four years!

During this transition, some students will retain their counselor from last year while others may switch. Our counseling team will collaborate to ensure that all counselors are up to speed and ready to assist students with their post-secondary aspirations.

Under the new model, counselors will split their time between the two campuses. Below is a breakdown of which counselors will be working with students based on the students’ last name:

Updated Bus Routes

Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we transitioned from 19 bus routes down to 10 for the 2026-27 school year.

DTC has worked very hard and made several adjustments to the routes to help optimize travel times and improve our service to families. These changes will take effect on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Please log in to Skyward to review your student's updated bus pick-up and drop-off information before Monday morning.

Hawkfest 2026 - Postponed

The decision has been decision to post-pone Hawkfest due to Friday's incelement weather forecast.

Arrowhead's DECA club hosts Hawkfest each year, but what is DECA?

The DECA club helps prepare Warhawks who are interested in leadership, entrepreneurship, and/or are seeking a future in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. AHS marketing students have demonstrated and excelled in business plan development, advertising campaigns, promotional plans, fashion promotion, and public relation plans, to mention a few!

Hawkfest has a variety of food, carnival games, and prizes for kids of all ages.

Student Technology Reminders

As of the 2026-2027 school year, all Arrowhead students possess a school-provided chromebook which can be used during the school day. In alignment with Wisconsin Act 42 and the school board approved Arrowhead Student Handbook, the following are considered personal communication devices and are not allowed for use during instructional times (resource periods, classes) at Arrowhead during the school day:

Cell phones
Laptops (e.g.: MacBooks, windows PCs, etc)
Tablets (e.g.: iPads, Surface Pros, etc.)
Gaming devices (e.g.: Nintendo switch)

Please remind your student to follow classroom procedures for cell phones and encourage them to leave the other devices at home. Students who continue to bring and use PCDs during instructional time will meet with their building associate principal and risk confiscation of devcies to be picked up by parents at the end of the school day.

Hello Arrowhead Community!

At a recent board meeting, the term “noise” was used to describe inaccurate, distorted, or distracting information within a community—information that can hinder truthful communication and meaningful progress.

We can likely agree that, in today’s world, we are inundated with information every day. Some of that information is accurate and helpful, while some of it is simply “noise.”

So, how does a member of the Arrowhead community find accurate information and the context needed to draw their own conclusions?

Through connection with our high school.

When families and community members have opportunities to hear directly from school leaders, educators, students, and others within our school community, they can better understand what is actually happening—not through rumor or secondhand accounts, but through direct communication and meaningful engagement.

Connection creates an opportunity to ask questions, seek context, and understand different perspectives. It helps ensure that members of the Arrowhead community have access to reliable information from which they can form their own conclusions.

Connection is one of the best ways to cut through the noise.

There are many avenues for connection with AHS: conversations with teachers and coaches, reaching out to administration or Board members with questions or concerns, and attending the many meetings of the School Board.

An excellent opportunity for connection will take place on October 21, 2026, when the Budget Hearing begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Annual Meeting.

The Budget Hearing is a legally required public meeting where the proposed budget for the upcoming school year is presented. Arrowhead Director of Business Services Jeff Gross’s annual presentation is both educational and insightful, and the hearing provides residents and taxpayers an opportunity to ask questions and be heard.

The Annual Meeting is a formal meeting of the district’s eligible electors. In addition to being heard, electors may vote on matters authorized by state statute, including such topics as Board compensation and the tax levy.

Please consider attending these meetings. They provide an opportunity to hear directly from district leaders, ask questions, gain context, and participate in the process.

All are also welcome at School Board committee meetings and monthly board meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month in the District Office conference room at South Campus. CELEBRATIONS!

Automotive Service Excellence Accreditation

On September 16, Arrowhead High School was proud to recognize Tech Ed instructor, Joe Premo, and the Arrowhead Automotive Program for earning their Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Accreditation!

Community supporters of our program, as well as AHS administration, spoke to the immense amount of work that went into this recognition and accomplishment. Mr. Premo spoke to the great opportunities that are now provided to our students as a result of this accreditation. Students can now earn ASE certifications while taking automotive courses right here at Arrowhead! This is a major opportunity and advantage for our students as they head toward their postsecondary plans.

Congrats to Mr. Premo and our students and thank you to everyone who made this possible!

Our fall sports are off to a great start! Go Warhawks!

Boys Soccer - Record 8-0. They continue to play strong and recently beat Homestead 2-0. The boys look forward to playing Oconomowoc next week.

Football - The program is undefeated so far this season. They celebrated their seniors with a Friday Night 45-21 win over Brookfield East. They are preparing to host Kettle Moraine on Friday, September 18. Hawkfest and Chiefs night has been postponed. Stay tuned.

Boys Volleyball - Record 6-6. The team had a big win the other day over defending state champion Middleton at the Brookfield Clash Tournament. They beat Waukesha West in 3 this week. They continue to work and play hard together making a stronger team connection.

Girls Volleyball - Record 9-2. The team is playing great together and getting some great experience. They beat Waukesha West on Wednesday as they showed their appreciation and recognized their parents. They look forward to playing this weekend in a highly competitive 32 team tournament at the Sting Center.

Boys Cross Country - The team placed 6th out of 32 teams and a competitive Verona Invitation last weekend. They look forward to running at Tendick Park on Saturday and seeing their improvement of the miles they have been logging.

Girls Cross Country - The team placed 5th out of 13 teams at the Mukwonago. They are young but improving everyday, getting stronger and setting personal bests. They look forward to running next weekend in Janesville. The Muskego Invite was cancelled due to the weather.

Field Hockey - The team is coming off of a big 8-2 win over Novi this past weekend and a 10-0 win over ULS last night in the rain. They are still undefeated in the conference and look forward to playing a tough DSHA team next week.

Girls Swim & Dive - The team recently won the Classic 8 Conference Relays. They won four events but the team's depth powered them to the win over runner up Muskego and the rest of the conference teams. They are looking forward to the Nicolet Invitational on Saturday.

Girls Tennis - The team’s head-to-head record against other teams is 20-1. Their only loss comes from Neenah in a close 3-4 matchup in their tournament over the weekend. They continue to do amazing and are looking forward to playing Kettle Moraine when the weather cooperates.

Girls Golf - The team is playing well. They have close battles with Conference Rival Kettle Moraine but are doing great in their Conference Mega Mini Meets. They play at home on the Ironwood Course on Tuesday in another Conference Mega Mini Meet.

Please make sure the athlete's annual online athletic forms are complete. They are the concussion form, the WIAA eligibility form and the athletic permission form. The forms can be found on the FAMILY access skyward account. Please also make sure the athlete has a current green physical exam card on file in the activities office.

All of these items must be current and complete before the first day of practice / tryouts in order to be eligible to participate.

Prior Newsletter Information

New, more secure entrances!

We are proud to share that over the summer, both AHS buildings were updated with enclosed main entrances. These secure vestibules require all visitors to check in at the front desk before entering the main building, adding a critical layer of security for our students and staff.

ARROWHEAD RESOURCE PERIOD ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS

Attending Resource Period

Warhawks begin their school day in Resource each morning (zero hour / 7:15–8:00 AM). With the start of the school year, we want to again express the importance of attending Resource period on time and what the outcomes will be of repeated absence and/or tardiness to school.

Students need to check eClass each morning to ensure they attend the correct Resource location. If students are requested to attend a classroom by a teacher and they don't attend, they are marked absent. In addition, students should be signing up for a location if a teacher hasn't requested them. If they don't sign up, students are automatically placed and must go to that location for attendance purposes. Lastly, students can sign up for their Resource weeks in advance on eClass both to take ownership of their education and avoid being randomly placed.

Absences from Resource Period

Absences from Resource period are recorded in Skyward attendance and will count towards truancy. Wisconsin State Statute 118.15(3)(C) states students may only be absent 10 days per school year, regardless of parent/guardian excuse. Given Arrowhead has five (5) class periods (one (1) Resource period and four (4) classes) in our daily schedule, any five (5) period absences will equate to one day of school. In addition to the measures taken when a student reaches the level of truant, students will be assigned office referrals with consequences for missing Resource period. A referral will be submitted when four (4) Resource periods are missed and the student will be assigned a Saturday detention. Continued absences can also lead to conduct unbecoming of an athlete if a student is in a sport or club.

Tardiness to Resource Period

School begins every day at 7:15 AM. Thus, tardiness to Resource period is also recorded in Skyward Attendance. An office referral will be submitted when four (4) or more Resource periods are marked as tardy and the student will be assigned detention. Each additional four (4) tardies will result in increasing consequences, including, but not limited to, Saturday detention or conduct unbecoming of an athlete if a student is in a sport or club. A student will be marked absent from Resource if they arrive over 10 minutes late to their assigned Resource location.

REMINDER: You can always check your child's attendance in Skyward so you are up to date to their absences and tardies. If you have any questions, you can contact the North Campus or South Campus attendance offices.

We still accept phone messages but it is our hope that the Skyward App becomes the main method of absence notification.

- If you have another child in one of our feeder districts, you may receive a message that you are already enrolled.
- If you do not opt in, we will do our best to use email and social media for communications as soon as possible.

Changes to Attendance/Absence Procedures for Parents

In an effort to create an easier and more efficient process for families to enter absences, AHS will be transitioning to using the Parent Access to Skyward for submitting student attendance. We still accept phone messages but it is our hope that the Skyward App becomes the main method of absence notification.

Select Add Absence Request
The following will automatically be entered
1. Student Name
2. School
3. Current Date
The date can be changed to enter a future absence
If absence is not all day, click green switch to enter time period of absence
1. It is critical that you enter the time in and out, if not all day, so we have an accurate picture of the time your student will be gone (for example, part of a class period or only part of a day).
Select Reason (drop down box)
1. If you select “other” please enter comments on the reason
Comments (optional unless you selected “other” for the absence reason)
If you want siblings to be absent on the same time and day, click the green yes by that child’s name

Arrowhead Adopted a New Parent Communication System

We're thrilled to announce an exciting transition that will help us keep you even more informed and connected with our school community. Arrowhead Union High School adopted a new communication platform called ParentSquare!

ParentSquare is designed to be your one-stop shop for all school and classroom messages. You'll receive important updates, announcements, and information directly to your preferred device – whether that's through email, text, the app, or the web. Plus, ParentSquare offers translation into your preferred language, ensuring everyone stays in the loop.

With ParentSquare, you'll be able to:

Stay up to date on all the latest news and events.
Send and receive messages directly with teachers and staff.
Easily fill out forms and permission slips digitally.
Sign up for parent-teacher conferences and volunteer opportunities.
View important calendar items and see photos from school activities.

During the 2026-27 school year, all school, grade-level, and classroom announcements will come through ParentSquare.

To make the most of this new system, we highly recommend downloading the free ParentSquare mobile app, available for both iOS and Android devices. You can also access ParentSquare from any web browser at www.parentsquare.com.

Update on Parent Contact Information Release to Public

The Arrowhead Union High School District has recently seen an increase in the number of public records requests for parents' home address, parents' personal email address, and parents' personal home phone numbers. Please be advised that under the Wisconsin Public Records Law, the district is required to provide lists of parent home addresses, parent email addresses and/or parent phone numbers when requested by any member of the public (unless the parent/guardian is participating in Wisconsin’s Safe at Home program). Please note that district communications will be on district letterhead, from a district staff member, or otherwise clearly identified as official information from the Arrowhead Union High School District. Communications from other sources are not district communications, nor does the district endorse such communications. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

AHS Programs Financial Support

School funding is always a challenging world to navigate. Each year, schools see a set of opportunities with costs associated with them that are unable to be funded by the current state funding and the AHS budget. We often have families with the means to support such opportunities who have expressed that there isn't an avenue to be made aware or to donate directly to a need. Each newsletter, we will list opportunities for our community to consider supporting. There is never an expectation, only an appreciation for considering.

Current Considerations

Arrowhead Scholarship Fund - This amazing program provides an incredible amount of scholarships each year thanks to the generosity of our community. Families and companies have the ability to provide direction as to how their scholarship would be decided and awarded. Please see the ASF Donor Webpage for more information!

AHS Tennis Courts Fundraiser Please consider supporting our tennis efforts to update and upgrade our AHS tennis courts!
