FROM THE DESK OF: Adam Boldt, Director of Student Services
Arrowhead is proud to be a leader in the vocational education of special needs students. This April our students will engage in their capstone event by putting on the 23rd Annual Lobster Boil to raise funds to continuously improve our vocational experiences.
Vocational training experiences start in South Campus’ Cafe Arrowhead where students are able to prepare and sell meals to paying staff members. In the summer of 2024, this space will undergo much needed safety and space utilization updates. The changes will allow this space to be utilized by students throughout the day during their study halls and before and after school. It will also allow us to take advantage of our outdoor court yard located in the middle of the school. Proceeds from this year's Arrowhead will go towards outfitting the space with furniture and equipment needed to take on a new customer base, which will improve the job skill repetitions that the students need.
Below are pictures of the current space and a conceptual rendering of what the space could look like after improvements.

Important Updates
Arrowhead Spring 2023 Testing Information
The State of Wisconsin requires schools to administer accountability assessments in high school. For the 2022-2023 school year, the assessments administered include the Forward Exam (10th grader Social Studies), PreACT secure (NEW, formally ACT Aspire for 9th and 10th graders) and ACT (11th graders) .
As assessment dates approach, more detailed information will be sent specifically to grade level students and parents regarding times and information related to that assessment. For now, we wanted to make you aware of some changes to the bell schedules/calendar in order to properly administer the required assessments.
For your reference, here is some information REGARDING ACT ASSESSMENTS and State Accountability assessments in general.
Below is a schedule of events related to state assessments. Please review at your convenience and make note of calendar or bell schedule changes in this link.
Buses WILL RUN on their USUAL schedule on those days. Any student who rides the bus in the morning or needs to be dropped off to school earlier than 10:15am will report to a supervised study hall.
WHY THE DELAYED START FOR April 17- April 20 because of PreACT Secure?
Format and testing environment: The PreACT Secure assessment must be taken on school-issued laptop devices in one sitting. We cannot load testing software on student-owned devices. Additionally, in order to secure enough proctors to conduct the assessment and have a quiet environment conducive to testing, the buildings will be quiet each morning that week for students to do their very best!
Focus on learning: Students who are testing will not miss coursework/lessons in their classes as a result of having a delayed start or having to miss classes due to testing. During the hours of testing where other students have delayed start, classroom teachers (who are not proctoring) may conduct review sessions for upcoming AP assessments or offer extra help sessions for students who need assistance. This is based on availability of teachers who are not proctoring the assessment and will be communicated directly from the classroom teacher.
If you have any questions, please contact Sue Casetta, Director of Learning at casetta@arrowheadschools.org

AHS Programs Financial Support
School funding is always a challenging world to navigate. Each year, schools see a set of opportunities with costs associated with them that are unable to be funded by the current state funding and the AHS budget. We often have families with the means to support such opportunities who have expressed that there isn't an avenue to be made aware or to donate directly to a need. Each newsletter, we will list opportunities for our community to consider supporting. There is never an expectation, only an appreciation for considering.
Current Considerations
The Warhawk Rise Program - We are looking for a committed benefactor who would like to support this great event! A new program we are developing at AHS that will recognize any student who has improved their grade point average by .75 or better from one semester to the next. (EX: from a 2.5 Fall semester to a 3.25 Spring semester) This is a significant achievement by students who put in great efforts toward success that may not always receive the recognition they deserve. The annual cost of this program runs about $4,000 each year and includes a semi-formal celebration brunch with their families invited and and gift bags recognizing their efforts. Please contact Principal Adam Kurth at kurth@arrowheadschools.com or North Counselor, Kelly Matthias at matthias@arrowheadschools.org to support.
Arrowhead Scholarship Fund - This amazing program provides an incredible amount of scholarships each year thanks to the generosity of our community. Families and companies have the ability to provide direction as to how their scholarship would be decided and awarded. Please see the ASF Donor Webpage for more information!
