Greetings AHS Families and School Community,

Happy May!

We are only 35 days from celebrating the AHS Class of 2025! This newsletter is packed with graduation information for our senior families as well as those looking to attend the ceremony in support of our students.

The ceremony will be held on June 7th, at 7:30pm (weather dependent) on Taraska Field. There are no tickets as we have plenty of seating for all guests. Additional graduation information is listed below.

Last year, our PTO began an incredible new tradition of offering Grad Grams for our graduating seniors! Grad Grams are messages from family, teachers, coaches, friends, neighbors, or anyone who wants to congratulate or share a memory with our graduates. When students pick up their diploma, they're also handed an envelope with Grad Grams which adds a truly sentimental and personal piece to their time here. Grad Grams can be purchase and handwritten at either AHS office, or purchased digitally HERE.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our PTO is asking for help in supporting an effort to recognize the work of our great staff. Please consider supporting their efforts to recognize our staff.

Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 7:30 pm

Commencement will be held outdoors in the football stadium. The stage faces the home bleachers with the students seated facing East.
Gates will open at 6:00pm. No early access is permitted.
Students will enter in alphabetical order and be seated by last name A-Le on the left (north) side of the stage and Li-Z on the right (south) side.
Please see this linked information which will be shared with students during a lunch meeting on May 21st. This helps families know what is expected of our graduates.
There are no tickets for guests of the graduates and no limit to the number of guests per graduate. Seating for our families is available in the home bleachers. Additional seating is available for elderly and handicap attendees on the football field near the graduates, on the outer edge of the track against the bleacher base, and in the front rows of the bleachers which are accessible through ramps behind the stadium that lead to the reserved seats. Staff will be in the area to assist as needed.
For those who can’t make it to the ceremony, it will be live streamed using a link that will be sent closer to graduation from this AHS Youtube channel. For families with mobility or weather concerns, we will present the live stream in our AHS North Campus Theater.
Empire Photography will be on site taking pictures and will contact families with information on how to access the photos.
Graduates arrive at 6:00pm and should plan to be in their assigned classrooms at Arrowhead North Campus no later than 6:30 p.m.
We will send out room assignments for our seniors as we get closer to graduation and share the link with families in a future email.
Because of the size of our graduating class, our ceremony must be held outside to accommodate all families. The ceremony is scheduled on Saturday night to allow for inclement weather and may cause us to move the start of graduation to an earlier or later time on Saturday, or postpone until Sunday, June 8th starting at 1:30 p.m. If held on Sunday, graduates should plan to arrive at Arrowhead no later than 12:30 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE! - We do everything we can to host the ceremony on Saturday, often rain or shine. We do not book the equipment, furniture, photographer, sound engineer, and numerous other parts of our graduation for Sunday because we would need to pay to reserve those services for both days. So in turn, we are not guaranteed any of those services. if we move the event to Sunday. In addition, if we have bad weather on Sunday, the result is an indoor ceremony where only two tickets are offered per family.
If weather is threatening, please monitor emails for a Skylert message on Saturday.

Before you get to proudly watch your senior cross the stage to receive an AHS diploma on Saturday, June 7th, your senior will be enjoying a final party with peers the night before the graduation ceremony. With that, WHY NOT HELP GET THE PARTY STARTED! We are asking you to let us know if you would be interested in helping.

We would like to share Arrowhead Summer School information with you. Below is a list of important information for you to be aware of before you sign up for a class. If you have signed up for a class, you will receive additional information in May.

Location

Summer school will be held at North Campus (unless stated otherwise)
Students are to enter using Door 1
If you are not sure where your class is located, there will be staff and information in the lobby at Door 1 the first week

Summer School Dates

Summer School begins Monday, June 16 and ends Thursday, July 24
Classes will be held Monday through Thursday
- No classes are held on Friday
Session one runs 7:30 - 9:55 am
Session two runs 10:00 - 12:25 pm
Session three 12:30 - 2:55 pm (Traditional and Performance PE only)

Attendance

Students can not miss more than 2 days of summer school; on the third absence, the course will be dropped with a failing grade added to the transcript - NO exceptions
- If you know your student will miss 3 or more days, please do not enroll in a summer course
- Students enrolled in Adventure Phy Ed, need to review communication sent from those teachers as NO absences are allowed

Every Day On Time is still in effect during the summer session so please remember:
- An absence is when a student is 20+ minutes late for class; under 20 minutes is a tardy
- 4 tardies = 1 absence (student can not have more than 2 absences)

Dropping a Course

If you register for a class but decide you no longer wish to attend, you need to do so on or before June 19th (end of the first week of summer school) to avoid the penalty of a failure. Let your teacher know and also contact Ms. Gordon to drop your course(s). gordon@arrowheadschools.org or x4210
If you meant to drop your summer school course(s) but neglected to officially drop it by the end of the first week, you will receive a failing grade.

Hello, Arrowhead Community!

Over the last two years, the Board and Administration have made a substantial investment of time and energy in budget review and long-range facility assessment. This culminated in planning processes that brought forth one operational and two capital referendums; while our community approved the operational ask, neither of the capital proposals were approved by our community. It is then understood: our future capital / maintenance expenses continue without a known funding mechanism. It is important for our community to know that our Board affirms its commitment to long-term financial viability of our school while ensuring the provision of exceptional educational opportunities for our Arrowhead students.

To this end, the Board will again explore next steps in the development of a long-term plan for our high school. Look for an upcoming Board workshop to be scheduled this Spring; plan to attend to be in the know of our process and upcoming decisions.

Parallel to these discussions, an “Assembly of Arrowhead District School Boards” has been formed, with the inaugural meeting held in February. The purpose of these meetings, which provide opportunity for school board members of AHS and its respective seven K-8 primary schools to come together, is to encourage greater communication and collaboration within the Arrowhead Union District.

Have you ever questioned, “What is a union school district?” Or, “How does a union district differ from a unified school district?” Or even, “What advantages does one form of school governance, union vs unified, offer over the other?” The answers to these questions and more will be addressed in an upcoming School Board Assembly meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 8 at 6:30PM. The meeting will be held at Arrowhead South Campus, Library Lab A, and is open to the public. We look forward to your engagement!

2025 WSMA High School State Honors Music Project AHS Representatives

We are excited to announce the Arrowhead High School representatives selected for the WSMA State Honors Music Ensembles for 2025-26. This year, for the 2025 WSMA High School State Honors Music Project, almost 1,500 auditions were registered across the state for 430 positions in five ensembles.

Statewide 2025 Holocaust Art and Writing Contest Winners

We are excited to share that two of our students, Kaylin Liburd and Nico Silvestre-Denk (both Seniors) have been selected as winners of the statewide 2025 Holocaust Art and Writing Contest. This year, nearly 300 entries were received and only six winners were chosen.

We commend not only Kaylin and Nico for their remarkable achievement but also their teacher, Terri Carnell, who taught about the Holocaust and encouraged student participation. We would especially like to recognize Terri for encouraging such strong student participation. Arrowhead Union High School submitted the most entries of any school in the state. Kaylin and Nico placed 1st and 2nd with their poetry. This is the first year that a poem has been among the winning entries. Thank you for fostering an environment where meaningful learning and creativity can thrive.

Thanks to the generosity of the Mimi and Robert Habush Donor Advised Fund, all winning students will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., including a tour of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

HOSA State Leadership Conference

HOSA students attended the State Leadership Conference in WI Dells. Over the course of 3 days, students competed, volunteered, participated in selecting State Officers and new programs for HOSA for 25 - 26, explored breakout sessions, and all around had a lot of fun!

AHS Student Senate hosted another SUCCESSFUL Spring Blood Drive on Friday, April 11th!

78 pints of blood were donated saving approximately 240 lives!

Lions of Delafield donates to Arrowhead Manufacturing Program for Personal Protective Equipment

Technology Education has transformed over the past ten years, including a revitalization to

excite and expose students to the possible careers that await them when they graduate. The technology engineering labs reflect modern manufacturing, and are no longer dirty, dark and dangerous. “We have clean organized labs, with high tech equipment that reflects our industry partners.” says Anthony Christian. The job market has fueled that change as it has a growing need for talented individuals to fill positions in manufacturing and automation. “We have been able to capture the vision of our business partners and make changes not only in the physical space but also in curriculum and student experiences. Our goal is to provide the best experience possible while working in a safe environment.”

The Delafield Lions club has generously donated funds for safety glasses and hearing protection for our students who work in those spaces. Each year the Technology Education Department purchases 450+ sets of Z.87 safety glasses, disposable hearing protection, and vinyl gloves for our students who go through the Manufacturing and Automotive labs at Arrowhead. These essential safety items allow students to enter into the lab, participate, and practice skills in a manufacturing environment safely. This also sets the standard of safety, of how we expect them to protect themselves in any dangerous environment. Besides having the correct PPE to protect themselves, education is necessary to understand the potential risks they assume when operating equipment in the lab. “Protecting their vision and hearing is one of our highest priorities that we hope transcends after high school and into their future careers. We thank the Lions for their donation and support for this safety initiative!” says Anthony Christian, AHS manufacturing instructor.

Please mark your calendars for The Lake Country Arts Festival on Saturday July 12th hosted by the Delafield Lions Club. All proceeds go to support local charities and schools like AHS.

TICKET SALES:

Tickets will be available for purchase ON-LINE from Monday, April 21 - Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
- Absolutely no tickets will be sold outside of this purchase window.
Tickets are $55 each plus a Vanco processing fee.
- Prom tickets are non-refundable for any reason.
Only AHS juniors and seniors are allowed to purchase prom tickets.
Maximum number of tickets allowed to be purchased is 2 per person.
Students will receive a QR code for each ticket that is purchased. We suggest downloading this QR code or taking a screenshot so it is readily available at Prom. (Wifi access at prom is uncertain)
When purchasing a ticket, students will be asked to identify any dietary restrictions. Most dietary restrictions are already accommodated through the variety of food options available at Prom.

All guests must be 19 years of age or under. Guests must present a photo ID. AHS students must fill out a GUEST FORM (linked here) for their non-Arrowhead guest by midnight on Friday, May 2nd. Note: You MUST be logged into your Arrowhead gmail account to access the guest form.

Arrowhead staff, teachers, administrators and Waukesha Sheriff’s Department Deputies will be supervising prom.

Wisconsin’s Top 32 Scholar Athletes to Be Recognized

Congratulations to John Kubisch and Jacquelyn Cox who were recently selected as one of 32 statewide finalists for the very prestigious 2025 WIAA Scholar Athlete Award!

Only four boys and four girls from each of the four WIAA divisions were selected based on both athletic and academic achievement. John and Jacquelyn will be honored at the WIAA Scholar Athlete Banquet on May 4 in Stevens Point.

The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) is proud to announce that our team from Arrowhead has earned recognition for their excellent work in the classroom while also participating in the 2024 WIAA girls' golf season this past fall.

The Team Academic All-State Award was established to recognize high school golf teams with the highest team grade point averages (‘team’ is defined as the five golfers on the roster for the girls’ fall 2024 WIAA regional tournament). The three teams with the highest cumulative team GPA in each division (1 and 2) are being recognized with gold, silver, and bronze medals for each student-athlete, and their schools will receive a certificate to note this accomplishment. Schools with at least a 3.25 team GPA will receive a certificate acknowledging honorable mention status.

Arrowhead achieved Honorable Mention in Division 1 for the 2024 season.

Please make sure the athlete's annual online athletic forms are complete. They are the concussion form, the WIAA eligibility form and the athletic permission form. The forms can be found on the FAMILY access skyward account. Please also make sure the athlete has a current green physical exam card on file in the activities office.

All of these items must be current and complete before the first day of practice / tryouts in order to be eligible to participate.

Arrowhead Phy Ed Department Featured in RINK Magazine

Our Arrowhead Phy Ed Department was recently featured in 'RINK Magazine', which is a publication distributed around the world. One of the sections in the magazine is to highlight new programs in the ice arena industry. We ran an Ice Bocce pilot program this year which was a huge success. Because of that success, we will be adding more Ice Bocce classes to the Phy Ed curriculum next year.

REPEATED PARENT INFORMATION AND UPDATES

RESOURCE PERIOD ATTENDANCE

As stated in the November Arrowhead Advisor, it’s important for students to check their Flex app each morning to ensure they’re in the right Resource location (0 hour). If students are requested to attend a classroom by a teacher and they don't attend, they are marked absent. In addition, students should be signing up for a classroom if a teacher hasn't assigned them. If they don't sign up for a room, students are automatically placed and must go to that location for attendance purposes. Students can sign up for their Resource weeks in advance on their Flex app.

Absences from Resource will count towards attendance / truancy. Continued absences from any class can lead to conduct unbecoming of an athlete, if a student is in a sport or club. Please remind your student to double-check the app for an assigned location and if not assigned, they need to sign up for a location. Parents may receive a phone call stating your child was marked absent and this will be reflected in the 0 hour column on Skyward.

Tardiness to Resource period is also recorded in Skyward Attendance. Repeated tardiness to Resource period can result in detention and/or the revocation of a parking permit.

**Please Note: Resource Period and Homeroom are not the same - Homeroom is assigned for the year; Resource can change based on what a student signs up for and if a teacher assigns a student to their Resource Period **

PARENT COMMUNICATION UPDATES

We are excited to announce two new communication features we want to share with our AHS families:

Emergency Text Messaging System

To receive our emergency text messages, please use your phone to opt in and text "yes" to the number 67587.
- If you have another child in one of our feeder districts, you may receive a message that you are already enrolled.
- If you do not opt in, we will do our best to use email and social media for communications as soon as possible.

Changes to Attendance/Absence Procedures for Parents

In an effort to create an easier and more efficient process for families to enter absences, AHS will be transitioning to using the Parent Access to Skyward for submitting student attendance. We still accept phone messages but it is our hope that the Skyward App becomes the main method of absence notification.

The date can be changed to enter a future absence
If absence is not all day, click green switch to enter time period of absence
1. It is critical that you enter the time in and out, if not all day, so we have an accurate picture of the time your student will be gone (for example, part of a class period or only part of a day).
Select Reason (drop down box)
1. If you select “other” please enter comments on the reason
Comments (optional unless you selected “other” for the absence reason)
If you want siblings to be absent on the same time and day, click the green yes by that child’s name

With the start of the school year, we wanted to share a few expectations that we feel are important to review before school begins. The slides linked below will also be shared with all students on the first day of school in their Resource Period. Non-Arrowhead High School Sponsored Event or Activity Absence Exception Request

Linked here you will find the application forms to be completed by you and your child relating to a request to exempt absences when participating in non-Arrowhead High School sponsored events or activities. Due to the fact that many of these events/activities take place outside of Hartland as well as outside of Wisconsin, we have found that students who participate in these tend to miss a larger number of days than students who are participating in an event/activity sponsored by AHS. Please note that the school only has the authority to excuse these absences should it be identified as a gifted or talented opportunity. However, this information does help as our administration works through absences with our families.

Parents may excuse their students who miss school for a non-Arrowhead Sponsored Event as long as they are within the 10 days of absence allotted by the State of Wisconsin. Once the 10 days are met, students are marked as unexcused. An exemption in the missed day(s) can be granted if the student qualifies based on the application form linked above and team decision. An exemption means the absence does not count towards those 10 days.

AHS FUNDRAISING

AHS Programs Financial Support

School funding is always a challenging world to navigate. Each year, schools see a set of opportunities with costs associated with them that are unable to be funded by the current state funding and the AHS budget. We often have families with the means to support such opportunities who have expressed that there isn't an avenue to be made aware or to donate directly to a need. Each newsletter, we will list opportunities for our community to consider supporting. There is never an expectation, only an appreciation for considering.

Current Considerations

The Warhawk Rise Program - We are still looking for a committed benefactor who would like to support this great event! A new program we are developing at AHS that will recognize any student who has improved their grade point average by 1.0 or better from one semester to the next. (EX: from a 2.5 Fall semester to a 3.5 Spring semester) This is a significant achievement by students who put in great efforts toward success that may not always receive the recognition they deserve. The annual cost of this program runs about $4,000 each year and includes a semi-formal celebration brunch with their families invited and and gift bags recognizing their efforts. Arrowhead Scholarship Fund - This amazing program provides an incredible amount of scholarships each year thanks to the generosity of our community. Families and companies have the ability to provide direction as to how their scholarship would be decided and awarded. Please see the ASF Donor Webpage for more information!
