Happy Holidays, AHS Family.
It is a great time of year! There are few days I enjoy more in my role than when I can pop into the music classes and hear them performing their holiday sets. There is still time to catch our bands and choirs performing their holiday shows - including tonight! Check out the dates and times in the upcoming events section!
There is also still time to purchase tickets and attend the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra playing right here in our AHS North theater next Wednesday night! We hope more of our families consider being a part of this great event so that we can continue to provide these incredible and unique opportunities to our families and community. Tickets can be purchased on our AHS website linked here.
As the holiday break approaches, it is good to make our families aware of the quick turnaround to exam week when we return. Exams are held January 17th-19th. Only 3 1/2 weeks away. We look forward to meeting our future Warhawks at Freshman Orientation on January 18th. More information to come after the holiday!
We hope our school community has a restful and safe holiday break and a Happy New Year!

PRESS RELEASE
Arrowhead High School Welcomes the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra
AHS is proud to welcome the amazing musical talents of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ken-David Masur, Music Director to the Arrowhead North Campus Theater. This is a unique opportunity for the community to experience a beautiful and intimate holiday performance right in Lake Country. As a special part of their holiday package, the MSO will also be offering a special afternoon performance for all Arrowhead High School (AHS) performing arts students.
“I’m very pleased Arrowhead can host the extraordinary opportunity, for students and members of the broader community, to experience the MSO right on our campus,” stated Superintendent Laura Myrah.
This performance is hoping to kick off a new effort to engage with parents and the community at the high school. Arrowhead is beginning two different series for the community: The Community Engagement Series (CES) will be a series of free events for parents to partner with the school and learn about modern challenges, trends, and resources for students and families. The Community Performance Series (CPS) will be an effort to invite more artists to AHS to grow exposure and opportunities for our families and community members.
“We have incredibly talented students and a community with an interest and passion for the arts. What better way to foster that than by inviting performers at the top of their craft like the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra,” shared Adam Kurth, Principal of Arrowhead High School.
Arrowhead High School hopes the community takes advantage of this unique opportunity with a goal of continuing to invite these types of performances and providing a center for the arts in Lake Country. The performance, sponsored by WANTABLE, is on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:30 pm.
Tickets can be purchased at www.vancoevents.com/BNBD or on the AHS website.
School funding is always a challenging world to navigate. Each year, schools see a set of opportunities with costs associated with them that are unable to be funded by the current state funding and the AHS budget. We often have families with the means to support such opportunities who have expressed that there isn't an avenue to be made aware or to donate directly to a need. Each newsletter, we will list opportunities for our community to consider supporting. There is never an expectation, only an appreciation for considering.
Current Considerations
The Warhawk Rise Program - We are looking for a committed benefactor who would like to support this great event! A new program we are developing at AHS that will recognize any student who has improved their grade point average by .75 or better from one semester to the next. (EX: from a 2.5 Fall semester to a 3.25 Spring semester) This is a significant achievement by students who put in great efforts toward success that may not always receive the recognition they deserve. The annual cost of this program runs about $4,000 each year and includes a semi-formal celebration brunch with their families invited and and gift bags recognizing their efforts. Please contact Principal Adam Kurth at kurth@arrowheadschools.com or North Counselor, Kelly Matthias at matthias@arrowheadschools.org to support.
Arrowhead Scholarship Fund - This amazing program provides an incredible amount of scholarships each year thanks to the generosity of our community. Families and companies have the ability to provide direction as to how their scholarship would be decided and awarded. Please see the ASF Donor Webpage for more information!
Greetings!
The Arrowhead School Board welcomes the opportunity to be a part of the Arrowhead Advisor! We look forward to offering our school community periodic updates on the work being done by board members in each of our committees: policy, curriculum, finance and legislation, personnel and buildings and grounds, as well actions arising out of our monthly board meetings.
Members of the Board are honored to have been entrusted with a responsibility of paramount importance to all of us - helping to direct the education of the children in our community. Our board of nine works closely with our superintendent and her administrative team to meet Arrowhead’s Enduring Goals and promote the high levels of academic and co-curricular achievement we are proud of at our school.
The Board recognizes that we represent the members of the Arrowhead community, and as such, your involvement and voice are vital to what we do. We welcome your attendance at our morning committee meetings and evening board meetings, held at 7PM in the North Campus Library every second Wednesday of the month. Prior to each board meeting, we hold a “Conversation with the Community," a 6:30PM open forum that encourages dialogue between the public and your board. Meeting schedules, agendas, contact information for board members, and more is found at: https://www.arrowheadschools.org/about/school_board.cfm Please join us at meetings or reach out via email; we look forward to your participation!
As we close out these last couple of weeks of 2022, there is much to be grateful for - including being a part of a great school community. On behalf of the Arrowhead School Board, best wishes for a joyful and relaxing holiday season!

Every year the state requires that schools provide those who work with students guidance on what to look for and how to help students who may be at-risk for attempting suicide. Although this reminder goes out once a year, Arrowhead works all year long at preventing the risk of suicide. In the past few years new steps were taken to strengthen our ability to prevent attempts:
Students emotional state screened using the BESS Survey in Homerooms
Use of Securly resources to better screen for internet activity that suggests suicidal ideation
Implementation and promotion of Speak Up / Speak Out anonymous tip line
Below is information on suicidal behavior warning signs.
