Behavioral Expectations

Students who have the opportunity to ride school buses may do so as long as they display behavior that is reasonable and safe. Choosing to engage in unacceptable behavior will result in loss of bus service. Bus policies apply to all school activities, school busses, loading and unloading areas.

  1. The bus driver is in full charge of the bus and students will comply with the driver’s requests and directions.

  2. Students are to be at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to their scheduled pick up time.

  3. Students should respect the property adjacent to the bus stops by not trespassing, standing on lawns, or destroying property.

  4. Students shall remain at a safe distance from the curb when buses are arriving. Students being transported in the bus loading area after school use wait behind the yellow line in an orderly fashion.

  5. When students are conducting themselves in an orderly manner, the bus door will be opened.

  6. Upon entering the bus, students should go directly to a seat.

  7. Students are to remain seated in the bus while it is in motion.

  8. The aisle should be kept free of books, backpacks, band instruments, athletic equipment, etc.

  9. If it is necessary to cross the street after exiting, the student should walk in front of the bus after the driver has given the signal to cross.
