Attendance

District Policy 503

****It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missing work when absent from a class.

(If you need assistance in this area, please contact the school’s social worker)

Fairmont Jr/Sr High School believes that the classroom experience is an essential part of learning. A student with excessive absences can make up assignments and tests, but that work does not replicate the learning acquired through first hand interaction with the teacher and with other students. By placing a high value on a student’s time in class, we expect our students to adhere to the District Attendance Policy. In addition we would like to prepare our students for success by creating healthy attendance habits. The School Board reviews and approves the school calendar during the month of April prior to the next school year. Students and families should review the calendar and make a best effort to schedule routine appointments and special events during the summer or on non-school hours.
