Attendance Policy Consequences
All absences will be counted in the accumulation of the maximum number of ten (ten) absences per semester. An exception will be made for school related activities (subject to the discretion of the teacher and Administration).
Guardians will be notified following the student’s 7th and 10th absence.
A student with excessive excused 8 (eight) and/or unexcused 3 (three) absences, may meet with the administrative designee to discuss attendance issues. At that time the student may be placed on an attendance contract.
Any student who is absent from a class more than 10 times during a semester, may be referred for an attendance conference.
A student with excessive absences due to extenuating circumstances may meet with a student support team member to create an academic plan. The administrative designee may use this plan in place of an attendance contract.
When a student reaches 15 (fifteen) consecutive school day absences the school district, per MN Statute, is required to withdraw him/her from the district, Truancy will be filed on the student for unexcused absences, unless the school district receives a signed order from a doctor stating the student is unable to attend classes and requires homebound education.
