 Expectations In Our Classroom

Expectations in our class in terms of behaviour, attitude and work are exceptionally high. Children will be challenged and stretched within a nurturing environment, there is no doubt that they will reach their full potential. We will be covering some really interesting topics, including lots of creative cross-curricular links too. 

  


What are we learning about this half term?


Geography: Land use & Settlements and Climates & Climate Zones 

Science: Skeletons, Muscles and Nutrition                                              

RE:  Hinduism     

PSHCE: Families and Friendships

English — Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Writing, Spelling and Handwriting.

Maths — In Maths we follow the AET scheme of work.  Within Maths lessons there will be arithmetic and times tables practice.

PE- Please come to school in your PE kit every Tuesday. Please remember to tie your hair back and wear no jewellery. Your PE kit is a plain white t-shirt and plain black shorts.

ARK Curriculum- We follow ARK curriculum in History, Geography & Science. 

Kapow Primary- We follow Kapow curriculum in Music, Art & Design, Design & Technology & Computing. 

PE Hub- We follow PE hub in PE. 

Discovery RE- We follow Discovery RE in RE.

Reading and Spelling 

We encourage parents to read with and listen to their child read for a short time every day. Enjoying books is a lovely thing to do together. Reading books and diaries are expected to be in school every day, to allow us to read with your child and change books as necessary. Please write in your child’s diary when you have read with them. 

Spellings will be given out each week on Friday. It is important that children practice their spellings at home ready for their test the week after. Spelling books will stay in school but your child will bring home a spelling sheet to help them practice. 


Vincent van Gogh - Starry Night  

Every half term we shall be learning all about a famous artists and their most famous art work. This half term we chose to look at Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. The children wrote some beautiful pieces of work all about his life. We then re created the famous painting, using oil pastels and chalk. Well done Y3/4 they look fantastic! 

Harvest 

Y3/4 love celebrating harvest. We can not wait to showcase our work and see you in our assembly! 

Western Park Trip

Year 3/4 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to western park. Please enjoy looking through our photographs of our amazing trip. The children were able to dress up in their exciting bronze age workshop and look around some eye opening galleries!

Tropical World 

Y3 had a fabulous day at tropical World! I am so proud of everyone, the staff at tropical world could not believe how well-mannered, polite and knowledgeable y3 were. The team at tropical world said we were a delight to have. I couldn't be prouder of everyone in y3. 

Cushions

Y3 had an excellent day designing and creating thier own cushion. I am amazed with how imaginative and creative their cushions are! Well done Y3! 

Virtual Reality 

Y3 had an extraordinary Monday morning. We explored the Amazon Rainforest and saw all different kinds of animals in their natural habitat! We ventured through the trees and rivers and saw monkeys, sloths and tarantulas! 


Y3 were extremely excited to see the wonders of the Amazon rainforest and loved exploring through virtual reality. 

Roman Britain

Year 3 enjoyed an extraordinary visit from a Roman this week.  Throughout Spring Term we are learning about what life was like in Roman Britain. To bring our learning to life, we invited a special guest to tell us all about it. We thoroughly enjoyed it, take a look at some memorable moments! 

Castles

Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed designing and building their own castles this week. The children worked well together in their groups and the final results are super! Well done year 3.
