Geography School Lead - Mrs Rawson

Intent for Geography in Shafton Primary Academy

Our curiosity for the world around us begins at an early age. To inspire children to be geographers we must provide them with well-rounded knowledge to help them understand and explore the ‘what’, the ‘where’ and the ‘how’ of our world. We seek to create a life-long love of the subject, through teaching our children about diverse places, people and resources. Through the use of the Mastery Geography curriculum, our desire is to provide our children with a sense of  awe and wonder about the world they live in.

Here year 5 children are carrying out atlas work to support their learning.

This work shows, year 3 , extending their learning by drawing and labeling a river.

From Year 1, to year 6, child learn about the diversity of the world we live in. We aim to produce well- rounded individuals by  providing our children with opportunities to expand their cultural  capital and experiences of the world.
