INTENT

A high-quality innovative history curriculum helps children gain coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.  It inspires pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past.  Teaching equips children to in inquisitive, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgment.  Our History curriculum helps children to be fully inclusive by undemanding the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the changes of their time. 

At Shafton Primary Academy we follow Ark Curriculums History Mastery program. 

This is an exciting and easy-to-implement programme for Years 1 to 6 designed allow for real in depth studies of key historical periods, figures and events. Using this scheme allows for a real immersion in each individual topic, allowing for greater understanding and recall.

The Year 4s recently went on a trip to Weston Park Museum. Whilst there, they participated in a Bronze Age workshop to really help them understand the time period.
