MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!
This half term, there is a huge focus on music in school. We have made a fantastic start by taking a deeper look at `Call & Response` music. We have already used instruments to re create safari animal calls, used our voices to learn `Che Che Kule` (an African call & response song) & have composed our own call & response pieces in groups. The children (and the teachers) are absolutely loving it so far. We even sung the register earlier on in the week!
Here is our music area in the classroom & the children enjoying it…

Remembrance
We have been learning all about remembrance & why it is such an important time. We created poppy field landscape artwork. First we used watercolour to create a wash which represented the field and sky. We then carefully cut out poppy shapes out of felt, along with the centres and leaves. We then stuck down the poppes to create a 3D effect. They look wonderful!
Read Write Inc.
Reading is important as it supports many areas of the curriculum and allows the children to become independent learners. As of September 2022, we at Shafton Primary Academy, follow the Read, Write Inc phonics programme.
