Since 2015, young people must continue in some form of education and training until their 18th birthday. This could be through:
studying full-time at a school, college or training provider, or;
an apprenticeship or traineeship, or;
studying part-time while working or volunteering
The Department for Education (DfE) has produced a video outlining the education options for those aged 16+.
The directory of post-16 education in Bexley for the 2022-2023 academic year is now available here.
Many schools and colleges will be hosting their post-16 open events online, meaning you may need to pre-register to get the web links to take part. All events can be found in the directory along with further information about the different pathways available to you.
Bexley will be updating the Decisions Post-16 website with new information throughout the year, including details of the 2022 Apprenticeship Event taking place in Spring 2022.
Individual sixth form colleges will offer different qualifications. Watch these videos to find out the different qualifications to chose from A-Levels; Vocational Qualifications; T-Levels and/or the International Baccalaureate.

A traineeship is a skills development programme which lasts from 6 weeks to 6 months and includes a work placement. It provides valuable training; work experience and preparation which will support young people to progress onto an apprenticeship or employment. Apprenticeships are an opportunity to 'earn as a you learn' as you will gain qualifications alongside practical skills from the workplace. There are four different levels of Apprenticeships with students starting at Post-16 looking for Intermediate (level 2) or Advanced (level 3) apprenticehsips which are equivalent to 5 GCSE passes at grade 9 - 4 and 2 A-Level passes/Level 3 Diploma respectively.
