Post-16 Bursary at Lift Bexleyheath
At Lift Bexleyheath Sixth Form, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial situation. The 16–19 Bursary Fund is designed to support students who may need financial help to stay in education.
What is the 16–19 Bursary Fund?
The fund provides financial assistance to help with costs such as:
Travel to and from school
Essential books, equipment, or specialist clothing
Trips or enrichment activities that are part of your course
Meals during the school day
There are two types of bursary available:
Vulnerable Bursary – up to £1,200 a year for students who meet specific government criteria, including:
Young people in care or care leavers
Students receiving Income Support or Universal Credit in their own name
Students receiving both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance (or Personal Independence Payment)
Discretionary Bursary – financial support for students facing genuine financial hardship. This is allocated based on household income and individual circumstances.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the bursary, you must:
Be aged 16–19 on 31 August of the academic year you are applying for
Be enrolled at Lift Bexleyheath Sixth Form
Meet the criteria set out for either the Vulnerable or Discretionary bursary
